Prayer Flag

I made little prayer flags out of my tissue paper but didnt like them all that much. However, the act of making inspired me to use some purchased art papers to make this white themed prayer flag.

Ten 3x3 flags. Handmade and art papers. Shells, tea bag paper, beach glass, vellum paper with words, lace.

So delicate. Love seeing you being creative Suki. These will hang beautifully where ever you place them.

Lovely prayer flags; thanks for the inspiration. . . which is what I returned here to tell you about. I saw a comment you'd made on another blog about John O'Donohue's ANAM CARA, which I ordered and recently received, and it has struck me so strongly that I can barely proceed with reading it (for fear it will disappear too quickly). Thank you for this, too.

chris, so interesing that Anam Cara appealed to you via my mention. I love John O'D. There is another book once you finish this one called Eternal Echos. I read from it every morning to calm myself before the day. Thanks for your refections on the book

Suki, I like what you said, that "the act of making them inspired you..." Isn't that true, just the act of being creative sometimes inspires new creativities. I have forgotten that. I need to create something and get the fires burning here! And you have inspired that! :) Your prayer flags are very original. Lovely pieces. And I will also look into that book by J O'D as I'm needing a morning read as well... Thank you for your inspiration!

I can see them fluttering in the breeze, like a delicate lace curtain. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has prayer flags for pets who have gone to the bridge and I can imagine you could make some lovely cat prayer flags...

Each flag seems so precious. Just lovely in their delicate strength. I had never thought of prayer flags being like this; quiet invocations and gratitudes of a most personal, yet universal nature, all expressed in tones of white. Thank you for opening my eyes/mind to a concept that differs from my habitual view.

Ooo, these are so pretty! That one at the top with the little pink petal in it looks like that paper I just got from the antique store. I like how you added little extra touches. I'm guessing you will use these indoors? They would be very pretty draped across the top of a window.

It's great when a 'not so loved' project leads the way to a great one!
I enjoyed enlarging too, and making discoveries. Like Kate, I hope you will fly 'em high,,,they deserve it!
