Tao Porchon-Lynch - Ninety-one Year old yoga teacher

A local yoga teacher has invited Tao Porchon-Lynch to teach a weekend workshop in a nearby town. That's how I learned about her. In the video she is a mere 87.!! But still dancing and practicing yoga now at 91. See her website here and click on the CNN video link for more about this inspiring woman.

So inspiring Suki! She is amazing and quite beautiful at 91. I'm not practicing yoga at the moment and miss it a lot - creaky knees and ankles!

What an amazing woman..who better to speak of the properties of Yoga, dance and a smiling face! Never hurts to have great DNA. Will you be attending the class?

I would love to meet this woman! How inspiring. I may share this on my blog as well, with a link to yours. I just got home from yoga class ;)

I'm especially inspired that she didn't start teaching until she was almost 50, if I understand correctly!

Wow! Really inspiring! I hope you get to attend her class. I wonder when (or if) she stopped smoking? I saw a cigarette in her hand in one of her younger photos. Doesn't look like it did any damage! Lucky her. Amazing. We should all be so lucky and so agile. Bravo for her for keeping her yoga as a daily practice.

I'm not taking the class. It might be next weekend, not sure. Takes place in Walpole, NH and I think there are still openings for anyone who wants to make the trip.

M. Heart. I think your right about when she started teaching. That's about what I calculated too.

Wow, now that's someone who has priorities in order...and self-care. I really should get back to yoga. That could be one of my missing pieces.

Thanks for sharing Suki!
Very inspiring.

Thank you Suki, she is wonderful, I watched the video and this gives hope if we are afraid of age, I love the way she says: anything is possible!
Thanks so much for sharing,

So inspiring, encouraging, motivating! A good reminder to overcome (well, at least be aware of and perhaps tame) my limiting thoughts. And to get my yoga mat out of the closet and back onto the floor, with me on top of it.
Namaste

Hmm....sounds very intersting.....I have never even considered yoga before....but now, with so much happening in my life, perhaps the time is right to begin....

Thank you Suki for passing this on.

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Robin, I am a huge fan of yoga, have been practicing since the mid-eighties and can talk long about its benefits. Not just for the body, but for the spirit, the "monkey-mind", depression and so on.

I have always thought I would like yoga. I have never tried it. I should obviously. I am stiff as a board though. Ha.. This lady is amazing and inspiring.

I saw this video elsewhere on-line a while ago, and promptly sent it to my 83 year old mom who complains endlessly about how stiff she is, but refuses my entreaties to try yoga. If Tao Porchon-Lynch taught within an hour or two of here, I'd see how much she'd charge me to do a surprise housecall...
