working the fields

It's that time of year again. The local farmer, who plants my brother's fields, arrived with his big machinery the other day. Here you can see the difference between cut and uncut and how tall this whatever it is is.
I think it is so wonderful that my family set up this association with Putnam's. No money in it for our family, but I know my Dad loved it that the fields were put to use.
Spring and early summer, so lovely.

So rural. I haven't seen much harvesting around here yet. Everything is still growing. Well, maybe nearby some farmer baled some hay near here recently.
The green of this is so vivid on my computer screen.

The one thing I noticed when I first left CA was how GREEN the greens could be and how pretty the yellow greens were from the Smoggy and not much rains in SO CAL. Your colors are gorgeous there like here.

That green is so soothing. I can almost smell it, too.

soulbrush, you are right. I showed these guys last year too. maybe even in more detail.

TeriC I wish I could mix so many green shades in paint

Katie Jane, this crop they harvest 3 times each summer I think.

Cris, is California yellowish? I think of beaches etc although northern CA might be greener? I do enjoy the colors here right now.

willow, now, the field seems so bare without the waving...whatever it is.

The smell of new-mown grass rivals the sweetest rose. "Summer!" it calls out with every whiff. Such a fabulous shade of green. Truly a spirit-lifter for those passing by.

Simply lovely . . .

Our spring green here in the Gold Country is turning to the familiar golden brown meadows. Ah, but my lush little dell remains green and verdant, as most cultivated spots do. Our sprinklers and rivulets flowing freely do the work that Mother Nature does for you -- and we skip the humidity. : D

chewy, cow food is the best or at least for cows

hi Mim

ohhhh Cris. I see. Smog green. I forgot about smog.

Debbie, i am glad your sweet home is green and so lovely too.

Patti, and such an "old fashioned" thing to do too. I mean...cut cow food.

Patti, maybe I should say a time honored thing to do, as of course these farming tasks are done around the world, some places by hand.
