A few things are peeping out in the garden, just in time for Easter. The festival of life renewal, baby chicks and bunnies, yellow and purple flowers.
The poppy. On Friday, I saw a youngish man walking down the sidewalk of a nearby town. Over his shoulder was the short section of a large cross. The longer piece of wood dragged behind him on the ground. At first I thought this was accidental. He was just carrying some wood from one place to another. But later I realized, no. This was purposeful. He was carrying a cross.
Possibly these flowers about to bloom are not exciting to you all out there in the West and warmer climes as you have already had many blooms. It is just 30 degrees out there this morning. Brrr.

I really miss the four seasons. Out here we do have seasons more than Southern California does. The leaves turn colors and drop in the late fall, but by February the trees are blossoming! We have frost and sometimes a snowflake or two, although rare.
I love the newness of spring and the promise it holds.
I'm very much looking forward to living back there in time for the end of summer and the entire fall, my favorite season.

Happy Easter from me, also. Plants and flowers coming back to life, like a good, big stretch when you wake up...It always reminds me to plant more bulbs...maybe I will THIS year!

Suki, I can well imagine your excitement over seeing the first shoots of spring bring green life after all that wet white snow. It just takes longer there but soon you will be living surrounded in color and spring beauty too!
The man with the cross siting is interesting. Do you think that was some sort of quiet message giving?

soulbrush, true. the seasons do remind me of that cycle and make me appreciate each one for its own self.
Lynn, I do think that man with the cross was giving a message though not sure what. just a reminder?? I think easter is when Christ rose up from the dead out of the tomb. Rather than when he was crucified, but still. it was very curious.

Yes it is exciting to start seeing new life in Spring. You are a little later then us but it is still cold here altho warm enough to have certain things blooming. Just now getting around to checking blogs been sick most of the weekend. This Bug will never leave. sigh
my garden is NOT sprouting this fast. and i want it too! this is my favorite time of year, suki. the earth, and myself, cracks open a bit and lets the sun shine in...

kj this garden is in direct sunlight so maybe that is why things are popping up. I also saw some daffodils at a house down the road but they also were in a southern exposure. or maybe they were fake.
yoga for cynics--interesting thought. maybe this guy was simply saying that. reminding us of our crosses. i used to think that way for myself, oh the crosses i bear. but i am not so sure i think in those terms now. just, life brings sweet things and not so sweet things.

My garden looks about the same. It is exciting to see the earth give new life. I make sure to look every morning, before heading out, just to see what's new.
All flowers are exciting to me. I can never get enough of new life. : D I hope you Easter was restful and sweet. Life by the moments . . . the best way to enJOY it.
