a chorus of spring peepers

On Saturday night I walked out to the pond at dusk to record the peepers for you to hear. I love this sound. Soothing. Today, Sunday I mostly rested, even took a nap. There is a nice breeze and it's much cooler than yesterday.

Yes, the peepers are out here too. I like their sound, though if I am edgy, the sound changes from soothing to nerve scraping...a good indicator of my emotions at the time.

Anne, yes, an afternoon nap can be blissful for sure though i always feel cranky when awakening from a daytime sleep.

Teri, i know what you mean about the sound sometimes being grating but mostly for me i love it.

That was wonderful, Suki. I love the sound too. What a beautiful spot. Thank you for taking us there, I feel as if I was standing right beside you.

wonderfully peaceful, i don't really like sleeping in the day either, unless i'm ill, it seems to me you are mentally exhausted.

this is just fantastic. i actually felt like i was walking with you, suki. i think this is what makes solitude so appealing.

i rarely sleep during the day. when i do it's because i need to.

blessings to you, suki. i'm still channeling good thoughts for where ever you're supposed to move to!

A great walk to your pond,it's just beautiful, thanks!
I've never heard them called Peepers,,but we also have them at the lake place.
Your voice is making me craaazy, as it reminds me of someone I've known, and I can't place who it is!

Annie, I just love this video feature so I can do this sort of thing. It's such fun.

Soulbrush, thanks. I am a "tired" person to begin with, and am taking more naps in the last few years.

KJ thanks for channeling those good wishes.

Lisa glad you enjoyed the chorus

Maybe Peepers is a new england term do I sound like a famous movie star perchance? :)

I adore Peepers - to me they are the harbingers of spring. They are actually a frog called "Pseudacris crucifer)" - as they have a little cross marked on their backs. Hmmm - a cross - A resurection mark? new life in Spring? Can I get all religious here?
Anyway, your walk was lovely, thanks for the little evening jaunt.

Oy...not sure I could listen to that for too long...do they sleep at night? LOL
Pretty...how quickly you went from boots and snow to t shirt and bare feet! ;-)

Peepers and later cicadas are sounds I love. Windows open last night, the birds chirping woke me pleasantly this morning. I too, felt I was walking beside you.

i've been so happy to hear the peepers this week. driving from our house to ashfield tonight (for a pizza) with the car windows open you could hear each boggy/swampy area coming because of the din! it's one of my favorite sounds.

Fun to walk with you on your walks. That sound is almost deffening. I couldnt sleep thru it tho. I too get cranky when I take an afternoon nap and wake up from it. Dont know why. maybe it is to long or not long enough. Thanks for sharing your walk. I Want to figure out doing these videos.

Natalya, thanks for stopping by!

Wow Mim, thanks for that info and another latin name! So many learned folks in blogland. that is fascinating about the cross.

Lynn the peepers start at dusk but not sure when they stop. they dont seem to go on all night though.

chewy, i love to have the windows open. the outside enters the inside. sounds of nature and children and even cars all liven up the inside world.

m.heart, i think i've eaten pizza at that Ashfield pizza place. I stayed for two weeks at the art colony place in Ashfield.

Cris, i think I'm used to the sound. It doesnt keep me awake. and it just seems such a happy chorus to me. the video thing is fun.

Suki, I love your video. It reminds me so much of the pond I left at my other home. I really miss walking around it, and I remember these sounds too. Thanks for the memories.

Andrea, if I push the selection button to the far right on my camera I can do videos. it's easy. I have a Nikon coolpix.

willow, I have heard others say the same about the word peepers. maybe it's a east coast thing.

marianne, thanks for stopping by. you've been so kind and busy with your mom. precious days.

Katie Jane, today i sat down by the pond for quite awhile. i will miss it when i leave.

Suki, I love this! I loved hearing your voice and we have always called them peepers too! Our pond is a bit of a distance from the house but as sure as anything we can hear them peepin'! I noticed maybe a week or so ago.

Nap, I am jealous! I LOVE naps. I am a morning person and used to go-go-go until 3 or so and take a nap with HGTV on and dream of my next day, then I had Pajama Girl and naps are gifts I ask Santa for!! I needed one today...feeling very static lately.
