Last week I worked on my journal. I seem to work back and forth among the pages. So far only a few are complete. This page is not glued up yet. Just a layout of this paper I made several years ago. Leaf rubbings and oil pastels on tissue paper.
This shows two pages of a four paged design. The page on the left has a rectangle cut out of the center.
Here are the other two pages in the four page layout. You can maybe see the rectangular cutout better here. These are not finished.
I showed the right hand page before with the man on the bicycle but have done more work on the left hand page and added the birds to both pages. Winging it vs pedaling.
Again I showed the right hand page before. Now I have also worked on the left hand page trying to unify the water/fish theme. The fish and birds above a cut from decorative rice papers. The blue paper on the left is some paste paper I made last summer. Mica is glued to both pages.

Wow, Suki, I see your work and know that I want to start a visual project also...the texture and shape is remarkable! Your dynamic self is expressed with such heart on the page! You really know how to let go with this project, excellent!<3
Your journal is coming along nice. I really like the page with the leaf rubbings. Alll of the pages are good. Just seeing your pages is awakening my muse.
these were fun to see and to see the progression of things. I do like those cut out framed looks!
and the decorated fish looks like you were having a ball.
You HAVE been creating. These are nice. something creative and fun to do at the same time and not to taxing, just enjoyable.
Cynthia, thanks. It is very therapeutic to at least be doing this.
Lisa, so heartening to hear these pages are awakening your muse. What more could a person ask for?
Lynn, I do have fun doing these in tiny spurts.
cris, you have said it precisely. fun but not taxing.
Your journal is so inspiring! I might have to start one myself...
kathi thank you. to be inspiring is my inspiration!! Well, it is a fun way to be creative in those spare moments now and then. The book is actually filling up fairly quickly but I dont have very many pages. Thanks for stopping by.
Suki, these pages are so wonderful. You have been very busy. I really like the leaf rubbings. Well, I really like them all.
I love when you share your journal pages! It is so inspiring.
katie jane, leaf rubbings are so fun and take me back to childhood when I used to do them.
teriC-thanks. I dont share that often as I am very very slow at making them.
these are wonderful pages!
These are fantastic pages Suki! Your journals are very inspiring.
How are your plans going? Are you just letting things come to you?
thanks Mary
Laurel, I am trying to just flow. I have no real plans other than to continue to clear out Mom's house, I am very slow at this. I could never do it as fast as your husband did. Wow. That must have been so sad. But I know sometimes one must be quick with such things. I am just lucky to be able to go slow. However i am getting pretty burned out with trips for boxes, then wrapping things in paper, then hauling them to thrift stores. At some point i may just leave the stuff I dont want, take on;ly what i do want.
I havent touched the furniture yet but found a store that will resell furniture. They keep it for a month or something.
Wow! What beautiful pages you have been making!
It really touches your work!
Like the altered books I bought from you, they are so gorgeous.
This will be a priceless piece once finished!
Glad to see you have been creating, that´s a good sign!
marianne, thank you. your encouragement means a lot to me.
I think the pages with the birds, and the fish are my favorites. I like how the birds fly across the page and how that one is in the fold between two pages. Reminds me of that Escher print of the birds that turn into cats if memory serves me correctly. And the fishes look like batik and would make a very pretty fabric.
I can tell your work is joyful and contented and absorbing...it's good to have that "distraction" when so much other difficult stuff is going on.
