Please dear friends, help yourself to a few cookies

I have spent a few days doing these. This is NOT something I do every year. But every once in awhile it's fun. Gingerbread cookies with frosting.
Brownies with frosting and chocolate dripped on top.
Brandy balls without the brandy. These are my favorite made with flour, confectioner's sugar and butter in all the cookies of course. Unfortunately my Mom has diabetes so I am creating temptation for her. But I made them for you dear blogging friends, and for my brother and son and the neighbor's down the road. Enjoy!!!!

Thank you sooooooooooooo much, dear Suki. My daughter is with me now and both are drooling... We have spent some time discussing which one would be more yummier.
Your kindness and art is presented in whatever you do.

You know, tomorrow night will be the longest night of the year(winter solstice)...we celebrate that night (known here as Yalda). It is regarded the birth of the Sun (Mehr or Mitra)in Mitraism -- a religion practiced in ancient Persia that found its way to Europe... Mitra is the symbol of love...
Some researchers believe that since the message of Christ was also love and brotherhood, his birthday was considered on the same date...

And another interesting point: your zodiac sign is Libra which is the 10th month of our calender. In Iran we call it Mehr -- symbol of balance and justice and love.
As you may know, our new year begins with spring.

I wish you a happy Yalda!

Oh human being I am glad you and your daughter enjoy the cookies. They are so good.

Happy Yalda to you too. Will you do something special to celebrate? I like to celebrate the solstice too. In our women's group now defunct we had a winter solstice party. We talked, exchanged gifts and then ate delicious food. What fun. I miss it.

I think there is debate about what day Christ was born. I have always thought that the 25th was chosen as it was close to the older celebration day of the solstice.

Libra spans both September and October in our calendar. My month is the 10th month though.

Happy Yalda again. Blessings and be well, Suki

Cris all the cookie cutters are my mom's. At my home I had some larger gingerbread people cutters. It was fun doing the eyes, hair and clothes on these little people. Glad you enjoyed them.

And the brandiless brandy balls look absolutely decadent too. Like I said a sugar high is coming on just looking....or could it be from the two different kinds of cookies I got from clients (Israeli strudel, and Macadamian Chocolate chips,)or the chocolate truffles the next door neighbor brought by? Or the cookies and cheese cake DH brought home from his students today? Our house runnith over with SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
