Collage Exchange

Been working on collages for the collage exchange. The threads you see are glittery things used to tie flies. I have modified the glaring colors a bit since I posted the photo below but you can't see that very well in the photos.
Earlier version.
Another collage almost done. Maybe I should gesso over the two very white spots added later. The rest of the central collage is muted with gesso.
Have 6 in process. Two which I don't like at all. Two I feel so so about. Two I like pretty well. The first above is pretty well. The second so so. I have to make 13. It seems a tedious thing right now for whatever reason. Maybe it's the idea of conforming to the size (no larger than 8x10) and other rules such as no addition of natural material such as leaves due to New Zealand laws. I often add leaves, moss so that's out. Plus most of my juicy collage materials are in the storage unit. Complain complain. Well onward.

Really like these. I am partial to the bottom one. I love the colors. What is the collage exchage? I think it is hard to conform to other peoples ideas of what is right or wrong. Look forward to seeing more.

Suki, these are wonderful! I love the color and I love the muted one too. They show up well when I click and make them larger. The details are great. I see you used your new found rolled jewels on top. Looks so oriental. You are creating wonderful things here. Keep at it. Thirteen, wow, what an assignment that is.

Thanks Cris and Lynn. The collage exchange is hosted by Dale at Virtual Tart in New Zealand. I should put her on my blogroll. I think the "rules" are just to keep the sizes manageable. It's not really about right and wrong. One collage goes to a museum, one will be for sale on the web for a month and 12 will be sent to other participants. I will receive 12 collages made by others.

Yep used my paper beads on several of the collages. Am glad I found a use for them so soon.

Also the "rule" about no actual plant matter has to do with some kind of NZ laws about importing plant matter. Or something. so I'm finding the restrictions both hard and a good challenge to do something else.

These are very interesting, I like your colours and the different textures. the lapis blue one makes me think of North Africa and paintings by Paul Klee. Super.

that's an interesting comment Elizabeth abt Africa and Paul Klee. Even in high school Klee was one of my idols. I still have a little bk of his paintings I got back then. But I never would have connected the collage with his work though i know what you mean. Those paintings with the stipes of color perhaps and the kind of primitiveness of his figures and shapes. Thanks

These collages are good to look it, each one has it's own caracter, one with deep and at the same time flashy colours, the other calmer, soft, like clouds. Lovely things,
Andrea
