Book Review

I just finished Brian Morton's Breakable You. I had read his earlier novel Starting Out in the Evening and loved it. This novel too I loved. I read it straight through. Morton is good with elderly people and, yes, even with women. He writes about a woman in childbirth which I think is very difficult for a man to do well.(He must have gotten some tips from women friends). Set in New York City with sophisticated characters, the novel deals none the less with deep emotions and with questions of choice and morality. Morton's writing style is simple and clear. He moves from one character's POV to another's which can sometimes be frustrating or confusing but here it is done well. Highly recommended.
