My form of walking meditation is to sometimes walk with my hands in prayer position. When I find myself hurrying whether in body or mind, placing my hands in this position slows me down, slows down my thoughts and slows down my fast walking self. A helpful hint from Suki.
The table was made by an uncle on my Mom's side of the family. The praying hands were a gift from a friend. The plant was given to me over thirty years ago. Actually this is a baby off the original that I had given to my mom.

Dawn
This is the time of year that we most often crave the peace of this photo. Namaste.
That is a very good tip
I haven't been able to walk very much as I have done something to my ankle :(
I love any plant that has babies
The image and posture of the hands in meditation is so full of humility, surrender, peace and grace... Beautiful. And I loved the the hand carved praying hands, as well as the table. Such a special space and wonderful reminder to be still...
That is a great way to remember to slow down and be mindful. Thank you for that. It's like you are saying Namaste to everything! I notice it also makes me stop and take a deep breath.
Kind of hard to walk with Annie this way. I kind of fly down the street. lol Lovely table & cool that the plant is still alive that long even if it is an off shoot. I have a plant given to me about 1978 as a house warming gift that is the original plant in the original pot. It just keeps growing. I keep it cut and it just keeps growing. Its a verigated Pothos. Got to love those things. Thanks for always coming to comment .. Wishing you a wonderful 2012.
How awesome to have a plant for 30 years! We have a ficus tree that was a gift when we moved into this house 23 years ago. It thrives!
The peacefulness of your walking inspires me to do more of the same.
But mostly I walk to exercise so may not slow down on my walks. But I can see that meditation good at other times so thanks for sharing it.
I like the table and praying hands too.
I also just noticed the wonderful painting of your kitty from Lolo. What a lovely lovely heartfelt gift.
And the beautiful mandala from Marianne too. Lucky you!!!!
Wonderful suggestion, Suki. And I love that you have a 30 year old house plant! I suppose some of mine that came from my mom are perhaps getting up there in age...and my beloved avocado tree must be 7 or 8 by now at least...
The carved hands are truly beautiful. They always signify peace and trust to me. The table is wonderful....I love the fact it has a *history* and so many others have run their hands over it. Wow - your plant! I have never had much luck with plants - except for one *China Doll*...it was given to me when I first came to work at Macy*s in '96....and has survived five office moves (some many blocks away)....when I lost my job in '09 - of course, I took the plant home - and her she continues to thrive.
Lo's fantastic rendering of Emily is wonderful..... she has captured some of Emily's *spark* in those eyes! And.....Marianne's *Cat Mandala*.... well, I know from experience how gorgeous they are! You have some extremely talented friends!
Happy New Year to you and Bibs!
I am still *limping about* - but my knee is slowly improving....
Love to you both,
♥ Robin ♥
Loving the table and the hands both.
I have a pot of moss that originally was in my grandmother's back yard in an old metal dishpan, and then with my Mom.
Yes, I adore Lo's Emily painting also!
did you cry and laugh at the same time when you saw lo's painting? how sweet all the way around.
i love praying with my hands. it calms me down too. i don't know if i think to clasp my hands when i walk and now i will. thanks, suki.
happy new year to you. i hope it rocks!

What a good reminder! Indeed you never see Buddhist monks run with their hands folded like that...........
Sometimes it is good to slow down.
Have a wonderful year dear♥
That is good advice.
I'm amazed that plant has lasted so long. It must like you.
Thank you Suki :-).
Love Lo's gift.
Lucky duck.
xoxo
you always make me think!
love the painting - isn't she clever that girl?
Happy New Year Suki - merry new year too
What a perfect reminder. Thank you Suki.
The carved hands are beautiful, such a perfect companion to the table.
I adore plants that last and last and have offspring! They become family just like pets.
I'm so glad you like the painting. I enjoyed doing it and talking to her as it evolved.
xo
Lo♥
I really love this sight. It calms me just looking at it. A year ago I did a mindfulness course, started meditating and felt so at peace, but now life has just taken over and is far too hectic. Sigh, isn't that an awful thing to admit- life is too hectic to meditate!!! (must admit I found the walking meditation quite difficult as things around me were too distracting!)
soulbrush, i find "formal" walking meditation as taught by meditation teachers very difficult too as you are supposed to do certain things w/feet and hands according to their specifications.
what i do is very simple and informal. i may be hurrying down the hall in my home and then place my hands in prayer position and immediately somehow for me, I slow down and feel more grounded.
