A brief hello

I have been away from blogging for this entire month. I have been reading blogs and commenting though. Don't know why the lapse. I have been blogging since 2006. Need a rest I guess.

Knitting, writing poems, reading, practicing yoga, watching movies. A decadent life.

a quote from poet Gregory Orr: "...what is really important is just to be here, to sing songs, to see what is beautiful in the world and be sad about the fact that we die."

Going off now on a little trip. Back soon to have a Thanksgiving all alone. Well, it has been that way before and will be again no doubt. People seem to forget the single women. Just wanted to let you all know, dear blogging friends, that I am all right. Have a great Thanksgiving. Love, suki

I like the way you spend your days. Nothing wrong with a break from blogging, I took off last winter from blogging and if was a good respite.
Have a great trip...nothing better than a change of scenery.

Hello right back! There is a lot to be said for a single life.....lots of uninterrupted time for reflecting
and creating, and gentle wandering (not lost)wherever the spirit leads. Sometimes it can be a little lonely but reassuring to know that others are going through the same experience...much to be thankful for. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

ah, the contemplative life. and a lovely post on the nature of life with it's sukkha and dukkha. sometimes I can feel lonely in the company of people and sometimes I am completely content to be all alone.

Miss Emily is divine! (ah, wishing for a cat). Safe and fruitful travels to you.

Hello Sweet Suki! I so understand what you mean. I, too, can't seem to get blogging together these days. Maybe it is that we need a break...mine has sure been a long one, though.

I am glad you are well. Enjoy your trip and have a delightful Thanksgiving, too.

Hugs!

That quote really got to me. I am enjoying life so much right now I just do not want it to end EVER! And I know I can't have that and yes it is sad. A crying shame! Could even get angry about it.
But instead I will just keep enjoying each day I get and be gratful for it!!! Whew. Yes, that quote really got to me.

Hope this is a fun trip you are off on...and enjoy your solitude...or invite yourself somewhere!!! I hate it when it's just three of us, just because I was used to huge family Thanksgivings growing up. Now when I don't get that I feel something huge is missing.
(I've gone as far as inviting myself to a cousin's home to be with THEIR family...better than none...with my kids traveling hither or yon.) This year I'll get to be in a big bash at daughter's. But next year probably not.

Glad you pop into my blog! Happy to greet you there!!! Keep coming by. and I look forward to reading more of your poetry and seeing your knitting.

Wishing all Suki's bloig friends (whose lovely comments and blogs i have been visiting/reading for a long while without being able to join in due to excessive dumbness about how to get my posts to work!! I've been friends with Sooks since 1965 (lucky me!) and am thrilled she has so many friends via her blog- some of whom she has met in person!! I don't get to see her often (i.e. rarely)-- boo hoo. Well- anyhoo wishing all you lovely people a Thanksgiving of your favorite sort.. w/ Best Wishes from Susan McLean

I hope you have fun on your trip and come back inspired and energized. Make the best of TG. It's not so bad to celebrate single, just take a walk and give thanks for the beauty of nature.

I took 4 months off as you know dear Suki, and people soon forget you were ever there...sigh.
Remember that there are many of us living with partners...who are still very much alone!!
Love you and have a good trip and a good thanksgiving.

Thank you for giving us word from you. It struck me when you said what you said about Thanksgiving. I am always roped into holiday meals with others when really I would prefer to be alone. Not that I don't love them all! I do. But I'd rather be with them one-on-one for quiet lunches in cafes instead of all together at once with the pressures of the social protocols.

Sometimes a break is what is needed .... The things you have been doing sound very self nurturing and good for the creative spirit ... Your Emily looks like very sweet company ... Happy travels and a safe return to you ...

I miss your posts, too, Suki, but totally understand your need to withdraw and just be.
Happy thanksgiving to you - it's not something we celebrate here in NZ but we have celebrated with american friends here and the food was amazing!
