I used two milkweed pods as front and back cover of the book. It is fragile and also rather hard to tie this closure. I think this yarn works well though.
The back page. I have always wanted to make an artists book in which the "theme" and materials come together like this.
This is the first one that has worked. It may be hard to see in the photo but I glued some of the fuzzy milkweed fibers to the pages as well as just the little brown seed in some instances. Charcoal line sketch. 1 1/2" x 3"

Now aren't you the clever girl! This is just beautiful, Suki!
Suki, this is magical beyond words....like something out of a Fairy Tale... in fact, like something your "Heroine" might have encountered as she was finding her way through the Forest!
I am truly enchanted by it! Beautiful! Wonderful!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
Suki, This is a most wonderful book! Bravo. xoxo
The yarn looks like more of the fibers too! Very pretty paper you chose as well. How big are those pods? Simply lovely. So glad it worked for you.
How beautiful. I will make sure to share this with my students.

I think there has been a transformation in you, Suki. An awakening of sorts.
I gasped when I saw this! It's everything the other folks have said~~beautiful, magical, clever.
Wow.♥
Amazing! Looks so delicate. What a fabulous idea!
beyond words...........
WOW. This is fabulous Suki. What an inspiration you have had.
Absolutely amazing! I can see this on the wall, or on a little nightstand in a guest room (not mine though--the cats would think it was something to chew on, lol).
This just might be my favorite thing you have done...full of 'birth' and 'death' and all the possibilities in between
lynn dimensions are noted on the post last line
This is beautiful!
So beautiful and delicate!
Lovely indeed. I like the open version best. Will it last? I see it mounted under glass in a deep simple wood frame...
sixty-five good idea to put it in a shadow box. maybe with two sides of plexiglass so both sides of the book could be seen.
I had to come back for another look. I just love this. Great idea about the shadow box!!
Suki, when I visit you now I just can't look at Pippi's monkey friend. He scares the poop out of me with his human face. I actually turn away as I scroll down.
Hmmm, therapy perhaps?
it's so lovely....
This is so magical! Pippi meets Thumbelina :)
Oh my gosh, how cool is that?
incredible book idea -- I've seen these pods and they are amazing structures -- will be book re-seed itself? Let's hope so!
I love this idea! How original and so pretty. Very nice.
