Fooling around

I folded a piece of paper I found into an accordion book. The painting was done by monoprint method. I cut out a piece of freezer paper in the shape of a house. I painted on the freezer paper. I pressed the wet painted side down on my accordion book page and transferred the paint.

This side I do not like as well and will repaint and blot out some of this. It looks messy to me. It was done by the same monoprint method however I just freestyle painted on a rectangle of freezer paper. Also, before printing I sprayed the accordian fold pages with some water. I plan to write some words in this book, maybe a poem.

A cover idea: painting on a piece of canvas paper. I am not sure I like this either as the edges are sharp.

I also worked on a page for the Artshine Traveling Journal. This is the back of my page for Sam's book. Her theme is the human form. I completed these pages quickly as I tore some sketches I had made several years ago out of my sketchbook. I then glued and taped them onto the page for Sam's book. Sort of cheated!

This is the front page, a self-portrait in the style of Roualt. I taped it to the page with silver tape and then decorated the tape using a pencil to make the marks.

Suki - wonderful work! I especially love the self-portrait....you do these so well - and capture the essence of Suki-Pippi!

Love the drawing of your hand too -Sam will be thrilled!

Too bad about the hard edges on the canvas cover...I rather like it!

Love to you and Bibs,

♥ Robin ♥

p.s. A Netflix Reminder: "I Am Love" is the name of the Tilda Swinton film we discussed.

Thanks for the lesson on how to use freezer paper to transfer images. I want to try it now too. Love the houses!!!
I am sure you can add to the scribbles as well and make them more to your liking. Maybe with black marker?
I already love the pages for Sam's book, especially the self protrait that is so YOU!!! Beret and all.

I love to hear the process ... Not just techniques - but what you were thinking too. The self portrait is very good - and I think the canvas painted part is the perfect color. Keep fooling around with it and it will come together I am sure .....

I love picturing you up to your elbows in paint while you tried all these things!

I love the houses. I must try monoprints soon. The self-portrait is sweet too. What a great idea to embellish the silver tape to make it look sterling/Mexican design.

I still have to respond to your last email. Bliss is taking up a lot of my time with feedings but I'm happy to oblige.

I see Robin mentioned "I Am Love". I watched it recently and enjoyed it.

These are all very interesting. I'm curious to see what you do with the accordian book.
The "hand drawing" is good. Hands are hard to draw, but you did well.
That is a very nice self portrait. It looks very artsy. I like.

Oooh so much going on - so much has changed since I last visited the World of Suki. I am absolutely enamoured with your self-portrait. You should keep it - as a beautiful tribute to YOU! I intend to go pour myself a cup and put my feet up and continue my long awaited journey into the rest of your "goings on!"
