The sacral chakra

Continuing on with illustrating the Chakras in my 16 paged journal, I used two pages for the second Chakra. Also, I found my acrylic paints so I used them rather than watercolors. After tearing open any number of boxes labeled "art" I found the paints beside my painting table.

The second Chakra is the sacral Chakra, Svadhisthana (sweetness and one's own place) in the Sanskrit language. Orange is its color, water its element. The lotus with six petals represents it. Its energy is passion, life energy, sexual energy and the emotions.

Desire, imagination, creativity and learning to let go are connected with this Chakra. As are balance (thus the Yin/Yang symbol) open-mindedness and the ability to yield and cooperate.

To balance this Chakra, laugh, dance and be with friends. Signs of imbalance are emotional problems and reproductive system issues among others. When balanced one feels creative, joyful and filled with enthusiasm.

Want to check out the balance of your Chakras? Click here for a chakra test. Take with a grain of salt of course. When I took the test my third Chakra, the naval chakra, was out of balance with a close second on the sacral chakra.

Here is a link to my post about the first Chakra--the root chakra. The root chakra post also contains a link to Teesha Moore's video on making a journal out of one sheet of paper.

The words "One's Own Place" pop out at me on the lovely page you painted in your journal on the right side. Hummmmmm. Your right brain is working hard I see. ;-)

Oh, I'm a sucker for all kinds of personal tests. I'm heading over...

(I love the bold colors and big brush strokes in your journal image)

Interesting chakra test - my results were an under-active root chakra and an over-active third eye chakra.

I know nothing from Chakras, etc.,,
but I do love following along in your journal. This blue and orange composition just 'screams' life, and I love it!

Now I will have to check out my chakras. I hope I have some.
:-D

I, too, know nothing about chakras...but, I took the test! Like Willow, I just couldn't resist... and I guess that, in itself, is a reflection of how I "scored" with my "Sacral" - way over active! (No surprise there...) Actually, I was in harmony with all of them but my "Sacral" and....my "Root"... (you can guess which way I scored with that)!

It's all fascinating.... thank you Suki!

Back to your art.....these pages are wonderful.....the vivid colours and power behind your brush strokes says you are MOVING!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

I really like the idea of this journal Suki, and I love the way it's coming along. Such vibrancy in today's pages!

I took the test: root, navel are underactive.
Heart and 3rd eye are over-active and all the rest are open.

I have some repairing to do ;)

Thanks for the link!

I know it's beside the point, but I really like how your chakra journal is turning out. I once made a self-portrait "dress" and hooked (primitive rug-hooking technique) little discs representing the chakras that I sewed up the front of it, placing the crown chakra on a hat. Your blog (and the "test") has reminded me that I should get back to meditating/spinning my chakras--instead of spinning my wheels.

I see your own place is sweet orange surrounded by cool blue. A nice visual interpretation of the Chakra.
