Delicious food and flowers

At the Friday afternoon farmer's market I bought these lovely fresh foods. Today I made a salad with the crisp and delicate greens, the tiny green onions and the spicy radishes. Soon I'll cook the new potatoes. It must be the Irish in me--I love potatoes much more than rice or pasta.

One dairy farm was selling clotted cream. You are supposed to eat it on scones and the like at high tea. A free taste was on offer and it was sooooo delicious I spent a minor fortune on this 4 oz. container.
Foxgloves from my garden. Today, Saturday, is cold and pouring rain. Although I went out in the morning, I admit it, later in the afternoon I fell asleep while reading. More rain expected on Sunday too. How is your weekend going?? Has summer started yet?''

PS Just playing around with that new feature on blogger where you can easily change the blog appearance.

Sleepy, rainy weekend here too...

Yummy. We just came back from the store with blueberries. some clotted cream sure would be good on them. yummm..Con loves Potatoes any which way. He's also Irish. Never connected the two. :)
We have SUMMER weather today. Yeaaaa and Everyone and their Brothers is out working in their yards. mowing, weeding, planting. Trying to catch up after so much rain. Con built onto an arbor to hold our grapes that are taking off. I did my usual ritual of pulling out my pansies and putting in impatiens. We'll be sending our nice weather your way now. Just hope no one is sending us any more rain....

Suki - WOW! Your new blog format is stunning...talk about a riot of colour!

All those beautiful and tasty treats you got today make my mouth water..... it is...wait for it....80 degrees in SF! First day in 2010 and who knows going back into '09... so, a salad like yours is what I will be having for dinner...... alas, no clotted cream for me...sigh... I adore it!

The flowers are passionately beautiful...I feel your Pippi side breaking through!

Monsieur Hire - an excellent, but very dark film....and the score is quite effective.

Sending you love and hugs,

♥ Robin ♥

Your haul of veggies and clotted cream look so yummy. I wanted to go to the Farmers Market today but was puny and didn't go anyplace. We broke a record high here. No rain. I will have to get out tomorrow and water all containers and our new tree.

I love the new header!
I adore clotted cream and I have none, I must find some and soon as you have reminded me how much I love it :-).
It is Summer here, in the 90's the last week, but cooled down to 76 today. Thank God. The only time I want it to be 97 is when I am under a shady tree at the beach with an iced drink in my hand :-).
Have a good weekend Suki.

I have never tasted clotted cream. I am also in the summer food mood. Today I bought ingredients for gazpacho.

Lovely photos of food Suki...and flowers too. No rain here. HOT HEAT SUN temp in the 90's here. Summer has arrived with a vengence!
Not my favorite time of year. But nice for the quilt festival this morning with a nice accompanying breeze and fine to be outdoors this evening watching DH and the kids shooting baskets! No complaints!

Oh, will you believe this? My word verification here is "sunso"! Really!!!!

I fooled around with a number of blogger templates last night and not sure if you all's comments are about this black one. Maybe not. I dont know if I'll keep the black. I'll fool around some more today.

Robin, I loved the music in Monsieur Hire.

I really like the black background, Suki, it bounces the colours of your photos and paintings so well. Imagine your foxgloves already blooming! Since moving north, I had to change my concept of Spring, which is quite late here. But when it comes, plants shoot out of the ground with great gusto, catching up very quickly because we get longer days. And then Summer comes, very quickly after Spring, where the days can be very hot! Vegetables love the heat; flowers not so much.

We also have a farmer's market on Friday mornings. It is such a colourful place! There is an area here where temperatures are much more moderate and much of the produce comes from there. But the dairy and meats are all from different ranches around the area.

Clotted cream and scones and fresh raspberry or strawberry jams...yessir!!!! I am in love with potatoes...and I know it's because I was born in Germany.

This is a beautiful post, Suki!

Suki, your blog is looking good! I am glad to see you have this option with blogger now.

Your foxgloves look beautiful...adore the color! The farmer's market sounds truly lovely. I enjoyed clotted cream when we would go for tea in England, but I have not found a good source for it here. I bet what you found is fabulous, though. The scones are very different here than in England as the flour is different. I can't afford flour from Dean and Deluca for scone making and that is the only place I know where to source the kind of flour I was able to purchase in England. Yummy scones with butter, clotted cream and strawberry jam. Throw in a cup of strong English black tea and you have the makings of a party! I am glad you found it at the market.

Thanks so much for sharing.

I love clotted creme with strawberries or rasberries. It is pricey, but oh so good.

Suki,

Your veggies look tasty. I have just started going back to the farmers market and I am loving it. Though it's summertime, I've been enjoying roasted vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, and new potatoes. In regards to my weekened, it's been rainy and relaxing. So doodling and sleep have really taken over.

I never tried clotted cream; you've whetted my appetite, Suki.
