Cold River Pottery

On Saturday I went down to the Cold River Pottery. There, Almut makes and sells some lovely vessels.

These blue and white bowls and pitchers are so charming.

I bought this pot as a gift. You use it for flower arranging. You know, flowers pierced onto those little metal frogs. I was quite captured by the interior glaze which looks like swirling water to me.

I also bought this bowl as a gift to my hostess on the Cape next week. How I love to buy handmade ceramics. A lovely excursion.

Nice pottery. I like pottery too. I am sure the hostess will be pleased with your selection.

I like both your choices. I would float flowers in the first bowl with the blue bottom...not pierce them.
My mother did a lot of floating of flowers. ;-) Thanks for the memory.

I also like how the wood is stacked outside the pottery shop.

Have fun at the Cape again.

Such a wonderful place to visit. I could easily spend a day there. I love pottery, too, mostly because it is something that I have never tried to make and I have so much reverence for those who do.
The bowls you bought are so pretty and I like the first one with the blue/green bottom best. I would find it difficult to give it away. Going east again? Lucky you. Hope it is fruitful for you.

thanks LIsa.

Lynn, floating flowers. yes, i like that too and my mom did that a lot. Everyone just about has woodstacks up here.

Katie, I am actually NOT giving away the green flower bowl with the blue bottom yet. Just the other white bowl. I wanted to buy about 10 of the flower bowls. The potter asked me if I knew of any Cape Cod shops that might carry her things and I think this bowl would be nice at a shop called Twigs if it is still there.

I love love love supporting local artists and artisans. Nice choices Suli, very pretty. I like the water looking one the best.

Hmmm, going to the Cape? I hope it's what we talked about and that everything will come into place soon.

I too like your choices and especially the choice to get out and have an adventure! Enjoy Cape Cod...going must mean your kitten is feeling better?!

thanks Willow

lolo, silly me can't even recall what we talked about. Maybe renting? Actually, I am going to look at some for sale houses and also bringing my renters resume and hopefully I will have access to a computer to look up rentals available . my focus is a little split.

Blue Sky, oh poor kitty. I think she is feeling better, but the difficulty is around the fact that she needs those eyedrops twice a day. For this trip, my son has agreed to stay here with my kitties. He will bring his own kitty along to stay too which I hope works out okay.

Oh floating flowers - yes a Mom thing, and perfect, since you could see over the bowl to the person sitting across from you. Great bowl for it Suki.

Oh wow, I would have enjoyed going with you. That blue bottom piece is awesome and so different and would have been in my shopping bag also!

Love the bowls. How sweet of you to take a hostess gift. I too would have a hard time parting with them. Nice you got out and about and are going back to the Cape. When will you be leaving?

Teri I am taking that floating flower bowl with me and if I have time will take it into a few shops trying to find a shop for Almut. Probably that it the wrong way to do it, I dont know but i think it is quite unique.
