scattered

The stream is covered with ice and snow. I hear it though.

Here the ice has melted, the water flows fast through a culvert under the road and out.

The dark area in the center is water. I am feeling light-headed today. Scattered. The wind howls and loose snow blows. We expect another deep freeze tonight.

'Tis rainy, misty, beautiful here. Lake Tahoe receives snow, but my little cleft below the big mountains lies bathed in mystic beauty. Today seems a fine day to set aside any light reading and dig deeply into someting more spiritual. My mind and heart are awaiting transport as the out-of-doors proves too chilly for a mere common walk on earth. I have a book detailing monastery life . . . seems just the thing for today.

Stay warm; enjoy a cozy day safe from the icy waters and rushing floes. Brrrrrrr! I have delicious mugs of dark, sweet cocoa at the ready if you're of a mind to stop by. : D

It is warmer and muddy here.
Lovely photos. Stay warm! And that mug of cococa sounds good, Debbie.

I want to be where Debbie is. :)) Sounds wonderful. These are cold but great photos. burrr. We have high rain clouds now. Not so depressing at heavy wet cold thick fog. A good day for you staying in to go thru cupboards.

Debbie, the book about monastery life sounds interesting. I hope you have a pleasant day reading. I too am reading some. Ok. I'll stop by for the cocoa. Sounds delish.

Annie,we have two more months, at least, of winter. Even early April can be cold and snowy.

Cris, I did go out to the library and to buy some newspapers but otherwise I'm inside as the wind makes it very much colder than the thermometer registers. It really hurts the skin.

You live in a truly beautiful place Suki.

Your photos are marvelous da'ling.
Simply marvelous. Really truly so. That first one looks like a footstep in the snow, a bare foot step.

I finally jiggled the mail box key this morning and got that pesky box to open and found my fabric treasures from you THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH. They really are very pretty materials. I love the floral print and how sweet of you to throw in the pink that compliments it so well. Of course white is always good to have. I had to laugh when I read the brand of the printed one to learn it was
"California International"... LOL
all the way from NH! ;-) Thanks again Suki for sharing a bit of your mom with me.

Erika is back in the hospital with a 2nd broken hip...we are not sure what the outcome will be this time. Waiting...

What lovely photos, beautiful area you live in. It is sunny here today, not very cold but enough to wear long sleeves.

Suki, how clear and clean everything looks! Sometimes too much open space can be disturbing. I wrote about holes today and your dark melted circle ice photo reminded me of my kids' nightmare story about the "Black Death Water." Watch out where you step! Really though, beautiful photos.

Ah, I won't even tell you how the weather here, after a week of what we call cold (hey, we got a light freeze), is going to be perfect - not hot, hot cold, just beautifully temperate. So the weatherman says if he can be counted on.

The snow is so beautiful though.

I really like the language of this post... kind of terse and cool... like the setting...

I like the trees there too... in the third picture... is that mostly fir or spruce???

these images don't feel 'scattered' to me, they feel contained, tunnelled and neverending. just like this bloody winter!!!! and thanks for all your lovely comments about mags. xxx

I miss snow from outside my window. I don't like being in it though. I love the shot of the trees with a little peek of the water below. I can smell the snow! (One of Mim's favorite smells, I believe.)

Have you found a place to go Suki?
Any more tea chats with brother?
I forget what town you live in.

Teri thanks. It is beautiful, I would agree.

Lynn, I am so sorry to hear about Erika. I am sending her prayers and loving thoughts. You are welcome re: the cloth. Glad you got the mail box opened. Bask in the California sun. I can feel the warmth vicariously. :)

Artist unplugged, thanks for your comments. LOng sleeves! I am wearing about 4 layers of clothes.

Cynthia, I thought that black circle of water looked sort of omnious myself. An oddity in the frozen river. A doorway to somewhere.

Difference, I forget where you live but it sounds nice.

Hopper, I think these are fir trees but I am not sure. Am no expert on the names and ID's. Not unless i have a guide book.

Jude, thanks, coming from yourself in Crete! :)

Mary, it is interesting. I'd like to go through them and just leave them there though. Its the packing and sorting I dont care for.

Mim, where do you want to run away to??? I'm game if it is a warm place.

Soulbrush. You are welcome. It is easy to say wonderful things about that sweet baby. The images perhaps counter my inner feeling of scattered. Rather than illustrate it.

Laurel, I havent found a place to go yet. I am trying not to think too hard but just do my sorting job right now. My bro and I have had a chat for three weeks now. It is good and we are getting to know each other. I have never posted my town on the internet. Upcountry is the most I'll say publicly but I can maybe email you the answer if I remember as I am not a good emailer.

Dear Suki,
I so love your photo's of the winter in the mountains, you always seem to find such beauty in your surroundings. Yes, I would watch out for those black holes, they look very dark in that almost blue snow.

Well, Suki, I have to tell you, I think our good weather spell may be over. They're predicting snow and freezing rain for us this week too. Not good. I'm thinking that we may have a late winter that lasts into April.

Your winter pictures are so nice, although I'm sure you are sick of it. Your last photo could make a good watercolor. And your prose under the first photo, I thought was going to be a poem.

We had more snow today and frigid temperatures. I am enjoying my "mind of winter" today. Lovely cold photos, Suki.

Suki, as I type this comment some snow is falling. This one may turn into something down here...if so, it will be first of the season. I know you must be feeling tired of it by now, but we are looking forward to a white ground blanket. The thing is you really have to be safe up there with the snow over the rushing water. You know where those spots are, so I am sure you are very careful.

Stay warm and enjoy this time of renewal. Thank you so much for these beautiful photos...you do find the best!

Have a Lovely Day!
