As I walk

through the crusty snow I find a tree with little seed pods still clinging.

It is like nature's Christmas tree. The pods so delicate and fragile yet clinging on. (click to enlarge)

Abandoned.

Come sit and ponder with me. This bench was at the edge of the woods above the stream.

Note: I tried to answer some of your comments on my previous post this morning and blogger would not work right. Will try again later.

walking in winter...it's such a different experience and pace. i imagine that tree with the pods sounds nice when the wind blows, like our beeches whose brown leaves rattle all winter.

Looking at your photos always brings me back as if I was there just yesterday. I can truly feel the cold dampness from sitting on that lonely bench. Perhaps it will have more company in the summer months.
I hope these winter walks are clearing your head and your path.

I can see it now...jackets, hats, boots and gloves...you and me with our hot chocolate. Oh, first brush off that snow and yes, then a good sit down talk. We would get down to this matter of deciding, narrowing down...we would talk of painting, dream journal and yes, maybe listing "IDEAL" settings as if they had already manifested BUT mostly we would smell the fresh air, look at the beauty and truly enjoy one another's company. Not too long out there, the dash back to the house for a butt warm up at the heater! Have a good morning...we are all there with you, wishing you well.

I love that bench. Did you sit in it during summer? or did you just find it? Look chilly there. Enjoy your time as you walk and think.
Re; your comment yesterday. I think it is a very good idea to have a chat with your Brother. Maybe he has no idea what YOU are going thru either. There must be some compromise.

I especially love the Abandoned picture,,,,it could make a wonderful abstract painting.
All those tall grasses,,,,with the barren color field of white,,,
hmnnnn,,,,,the hard part I think would be abstracting the abandoned object,,,making it less identifiable, yet part of the feel of the piece.
Thanks Suki

Your knack with photography is superior Suki...love the bench in the banner and the decorated tree is awesome. It all looks so quiet and serene too. I sit and ponder with you...(in between clients that is...) ;-)

Suki, I enjoyed taking this quiet winter walk with you. I'll bet you're the kind of person who enjoys the quiet and would make an excellent walking companion.

A beautiful place to walk. Your world looks like Narnia, the land in 'The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe.' Full of magic!

Annie, thanks. I know we share the white.

Soubrush, maybe you will come some day.

I dont know if the tree rattles as it is over on the other side of the road from where I live. Still, there are plenty of other rattly things.

Lauel, yesterday's walk was wonderful and left me thinking why dont I do this every day. Today was warmish, in the 40's, a great day to walk but i spent the afternoon catching up on a lot of shopping esp as tomorrow is another stormy day.

Willow, lots of "W's" in your comment.

Mary Ann, that is such a beautiful scenario you have depicted. It would be so fun. Thank you for being there with me.

Cris, I only just discovered this bench yesterday. It makes the woods edge more homey. I have invited Russ to a coffee sit down on Wednesday so thus had to go out and buy some coffee as I dont drink it.

Babs, i love the way you see in abstract images. I wonder if you will give this photo a try. Do!

Wurzerl, happy new year to you too. Hope you enjoy your new laptop!

lynn, it is a delight to sit and ponder with you!

And you too Marianne.

San, I am sometimes very quite and do enjoy quiet. Other times if i havent seen a person for awhile I might be sort of chattery.

Patti, what an interesting thought.! Narnia. There is certainly something magical here.

See, you are finding beauty in the everyday. So lovely and so still. Only gray and freezing rain here. Ugly. I love the bench shot.

Katie Jane, after seeing Babs' lovely winter painting I want to learn to make greys, which I find so hard to mix. Winter has its own beauty for sure. although it sure is cold and wet.

nice walk! i love seeing the different places people go and the things they choose to notice, don't you?

Willow, Mom spent many years tracing both sides of the family back to the Mayflower and beyond. She ordered a lot of books thru various Geneo societies and did a chart and also has info on computer discs. Luckily, the book seller who came loves these books and was very excited to get them. I think MOm would be pleased.

Cynthia, it is cold believe me

human being so good to hear from you. I love taking the walks though dont do so often enough

sukipoet said...

kim, yes that bench photo in the post is the same one now in the header.

Mary, we each notice different things too. I think we all could go on the same walk and each come up with different photos and aspects of note.
