A beautiful day in the neighborhood.....

Warm temps yesterday drove me down to dragonfly pond to sit and watch the pond world. I took a lot of shots of the dragonflies before I got this good one. Mostly they would flit off when I moved the camera to shoot them. After a bit though, they seemed to ignore the click of the camera, the movement of my hand.

I walked to the far end of the pond for these shots. Leaning birches.

Reflections.
Peaceful.

A beautiful day in your neighborhood, indeed! Ah, Fred Rogers, God rest his soul!! :)

Yes, please feel free to copy my little side bar event thingy. I'm afraid my humble little life is a tad on the boring side, but readers seem interested. I would love to read yours!

Stunningly beautiful! My husband is particularly fond of dragonflies and photographs them OFTEN. He found one with a torn wing that hung around for the entire season. He claimed the "guy" posed for many a picture. Whoa! I never thought of my husband as a nature guy until then. I love surprises!

Your tranquil photos soothed my so. I am reflecting and rejoicing in the beauty of life. Your paint, poems,a nd ponderings put out a siren's song of beauty and I have never been disappointed at the offerings. Thank you, sweet friend. : )

p.s.
Did your brother win his post? I am praying for him as he fills his time in these transitional days. If not this elected post, something else will come along. Blessings to you all.

What beautiful and peaceful pictures! I especially love the one of the leaning birches. Your pond is such a dreamy place. Like a reflecting pool for reflecting.

Annie, there are other sorts around here too. But this fall I have mostly seen red.

Cris, thank you for asking. My brother did not win. The area was dominated by democrats. He can try again in two years if he wants to.

Thanks Willow. I hardly think of my life as eventful. Yikes. Very very boring. Still, I like that quick insight into what is going on with you via these catagories.

welcome Jeane. Thanks for stopping by. It is very restful around here. Y'day at the pond I made note of the sounds I heard. some farm machine, the birds, chicakdees, some neighbors working on their house. That's it. Quiet.

Thanks Debbie. You always have insightful and kind words to say. I have named this farm (even though it is not mine) Dragonfly Pond Farm. Your husband maybe has a telephoto lense to capture these flitty creatures. I have found it very hard to do with my coolpix digital. Well, my brother lost the contest, however right now he is off to NY upstate to visit his deceased wife's brother. The brother has been a paraplegic since the 60's via an accident in Army training camp. He became a lawyer and has homes in CA and NY. He drives and does an incredible amount of things himself. However he recently broke a bone in his leg which I think, along with his sister's death, set him of a path to depression. Anyway, good my bro will go and visit. Make them both feel better. Thanks for asking and thinking of him.

You're welcome Teri.

Thanks Babs. Yes, I wish I could have better captured his wings. They were gossamer. There were several of them flying around, a couple looked like their were either fighting or courting. They may have thought it was spring, it was so warm and lovely.

Katie Jane. I have sat more by the pond this fall than anytime and am finding peace there and as you say reflection. It is a blessing to have it here. I think in the 30 plus years my folks have owned this place I am one of the few who have tarried by the pond.

Chewy, well I think you have a river, right?? And also a pool:)

Mary, thanks for your reflections.

Thanks Blue Sky. Guess you are back from your idle in Blue Moon Bay.

Hello Suki, I am so glad you have had such a lovely day there around dragonfly pond. I know you draw amazing inspiration from the pond and surrounding area. I adore your photographs and your new header, too. The ones with the incredible blues are exceedingly appealing to me...what depth!

I love the little side bar which talks about what you are up to right now. What a great idea from Willow. I know I will keep an eye on that feature.

Thanks Suki!

Thanks Lynn. The reflections were so good that day at the other end of the pond.

Patti, it is magical here. I keep feeling it more and more esp down at the pond.

Karen, glad you too are having warm weather before the winter hits hard. I breathe easier in the warmth.

Kim thanks for mentioning the header and sidebar additions. The pond is my favorite place on the farm maybe next to the well.
