Angel progress

The sketch shown before.

First draft with acrylics. Love those drips.

Another layer later in the day.

This was my ending point yesterday afternoon.

I listed some of my inspirations in yesterday's post. Now, two more. Andrea's wonderful angel. Scroll down to see on the Sept 8th post. And Mary Ann's angels. Scroll down to see.

Angels are really making their way around my angel friends, that is for sure!

Suki, I adore the way you have shown the process here. I find that very difficult to accomplish when I paint so hats off to you! Wow!

And she is looking very good, too. You always make me eager to see the next step in your work!

Fabulous!

It is so interesting to see your stages of this painting. It's watching it come alive! You are giving birth to an angel. ;-)
and I like the stacking collage at the end too.
Oh goodie, more angels to go see.
My new daughter in law loves angels, she ends her emails with a quote about angels. It says: "Angels are those moments when time stands still and life just seems to fit. Have courage and recognize the angels in your life."

I love the fall photo in your new banner too! Love those gords.

This makes the most wonderful card. You should go into stationary :-)

wow you are on a roll Suki. Acrylics are so much faster to paint with arent they!?
Looking good. It's fun to watch someone elses progress in their work. :))

The process is the core of delight for me. I was out in the gardens today planting out an annual bed (my only one) and I marvelled at how invogorated I felt every step of the way. It is nice to lean back and gaze at the finished product, but then I am eager to begin anew in another area.

I love your angel wrapped in such clear vivid colors espressing hope and blossoms and life. I agree with Britt-Arnhild ... looks like a great greeting card. (You can tell I still like a snail-mail card over an e-card with all its animation, sound, and typed text. Bring on the handwritten and unique!)

Happy Monday! : )

hello dear suki

Thanks Kim. I was particularly conscious this time when painting of taking a picture every now and again. Other times I forget.

Thanks Lynn. What a neat quote your new daughter in law found. I'm not necessarily a big angel person, however this one just wanted to be borned. :)

Thanks Britt-arnhild. Interesting idea. I guess there are still peole who write letters by hand. :)

Cris, thanks. Yes, acrylics certainly dry faster and the clean up is so much easier.

Thanks Debbie. YOur gardens thrive on your care and revisions. I too like snail mail very much. Yet, seldom write letters anymore thus I seldom receive them. Have a lovely time there in CA.

An angel "less ordinary",,,and I like that! By that, I mean the bright colors that normally aren't associated with angels.
And really fun to watch over your shoulder.
Hope we didn't cause you to make that drip!
(but I love drips)

i love that everyone's angels seem to reflect their very specific and sweet personalities, beliefs and appearances, that each of our angels is maybe a reflection of our better or best selves? love seeing your process....

thanks, atomic velvet sigh. The angel may be stalled for awhile as I am leaving for four day trip but...oh well.

Babs, I hadnt thought about the colors. Maybe it's the yellow wings which I may temper. Angels arent bright? Babs, I am a drip myself! The first layer is so thin it tends to drip.

Mary thanks for your kind words. Intersting what you say, the angels reflecting the person making them.

Suki, the colour combination is wonderful, I love the purple and the clear blue, and around that the vibrant yellow, and the angel has a serene smile...
