Hair

I'd quote from the song but I don't want to get fined. In the summer, my hair is curly. A lot like my dad's hair. Drives me nutso.

But you have a lot of it!
And it looks like a very nice texture. Has it always been curly?
It looks like nice curl.
Mine was stick, bone straight all my life until about 5 years ago. All of a sudden it was curly. Talk about an adjustment!
Mine isn't pretty curly, I wish it were,,,mine is just frizzy, ugly curly. So I blow it out to straighten it, smooth it.
I don't do change very well, but I'm trying.
:-)

I love curls! But my hair is straight. Last year I took a perm and had to cut my hair off. This was the last time I tried it. Now I'll learn to appreciate my straight hair. It is half long again.
I love your hair as well.

I also always wanted curly hair - it's thicker and looks good no matter what. Stick straight thin hair is tough to work with - but Marianne is right - I'll appreciate what I have and go from there.

It is so beautiful! Your hair looks wavy...and soft and lovely! And listen to Babs! She knows what she talks about and has given me some excellent advice.

Every time I move, my hair changes! No joke...is that atmosphere or water?

I am so slow getting around things these days. Be patient with me...

I have given you a blog award over at my blog, Suki...please stop by and pick it up!

Does anyone ever like their own hair? I have never liked mine. At least you have nice thick hair and curly is nice. Mine is baby fine and slightly wavy. Enough to not do anything. :)

Hi Babs. In the summer, it looks like I have a lot. In the winter it gets straight and thin. That's so funny about your hair turning curly. Well, some people pay a fortune to have perms to curl their hair. I do think it takes a special haircutter to cut curly hair properly. If that happens, it can be quite nice. Oh, yes my hair has always been curly although sometimes straight. Does that make any sense. But never bone straight. As kim says below, I do think it depends on the weather and locale a great deal. I know if i lived in Florida I'd have curls galore due to the humidity and heat.

thanks Marianne. Once, when I was a kid, my godmother took me to a dept store to have my hair permed as a birthday treat. It was a bizzare mess. I also thought, never again.

Mim it is true that I can cut my own hair and it is not noticable as to whether I do it right. It just curls up the way it wants.

Kim as I mentioned above I do think my hair changes depending on where I live. Yes, I bet part of that is the hardness or softness of the water. But also, for me, the humidity in the air, which would mean water too in the air, and the heat vs cold. Cold makes my hair go straight. I actually have a video of me being interviewed abt my book on a local cable station and my hair is sooooo bizzare. Huge waves like marcelled hair. I just dont remember that hair style. Ugh. It's so funny. OK i'll come over to your blog and take a peek. Thanks kim. I've been off line due to lightening strike for a day.

thanks Annie. I dont know what possessed me to take a picture of my hair, but there you are.

Cris, I think you are right. No one is satisfied with their own hair. I wonder what THAT means. :)

You know FY, I didnt really see the color till I took that photo. Enlarged, you can see some dark hairs intermingled. I thought they were all gone. Thanks for the compliment.

had to laugh! i just got my hair cut short and i have very curly hair though you wouldn't know it when it's long because the weight pulls it down....people think i've gotten a perm on damp days but you know and i know....damp just loves to play with curly hair! now, if i just had more than one hair here and there....;-) hate this thinning hair thing i have going on...

Having been in the business of hair for oh! so many years, I can testify that very few women are satisfied with their hair. Very few.
Sometimes you wanted to smack one with a blow dryer for complaining about it being 'too thick',,,,while the next client is sitting there with so little! Hair is never too thick, it just needs to be shaped properly. Same is true for curly hair.If there is a good cut,,,it can be work-free.
Mary Richmond,,,,I suggest that if you haven't already done so,,,,have your thyroid checked. Often it can be the culprit for thinning hair, and easily remedied with proper medication. I've seen it so many times.Best to you!

Mary I bet you look cute with your hair cut short. My hair has thinned a bit too or was for awhile.

OH Babs I totally forgot that you worked with hair for years. That's so interesting. You could write the book then on women and their hair attitudes. I agree with you about the cut, but it is hard to find a hairdresser who understands about curly hair. When I do find someone who does, I consider her/him a gem. More typically i find a hairdresser who tries to make my hair look straight. Of course it stays that way for about half an hour, then zoing.

By the way if any of you read or don't read Paris Breakfasts blog she had a post today on Paris haircut posters which I thought was a trip.

That would drive me in heaven! Well, I would have it curly too if my hair was any good... I would love to have yours!

thanks Sara. I guess we always want what we don't have. In the 60's when everyone had long, straight, Joan Baez hair, I wished mine were straight. Though didnt' go so far as to straighten it.
