Good News and Exciting Events

I sold "Where Inspiration Comes From," my altered book, on Etsy to dear, sweet Marianne. This was my first Etsy sale. I confess I had not posted anything new on Etsy for awhile. After a time, they delete your postings. So, I was lucky this one was still listed. I am now inspired to perk up my Etsy site.

Marianne has two postings on her blog about this book. Check them out here. One shows the book pages and the second post, WOW. Marianne made a mandala, well two really, from one of the book pages. It's beautiful. Thanks Marianne. You don't know how good it makes me feel to know this book is in your home. Of all the artworks I make, the altered books are the most dear to me. I don't know why. I'm so happy it has a good place in your beautiful house with your sons, and husband and all the animals.

And as if that wasn't exciting enough, the universe had another surprise in store for me.

Isn't that a lovely thought? It was on the envelope of a wonderful surprise package I received the other day from Katie Jane. Surprise packages are even better than birthday presents as you never knew they were coming.

Here is what was inside the package. How lucky can I be? A beautiful windchime. Yes, I've been drooling over the windchimes (I'm calling them windchimes but Katie Jane has other names for them) Katie has been showing on her blog. Please follow the link to her blog and you can see what I'm talking about.

She has been making a bunch of them to sell in some local shops. And now, one is hanging in MY window, along with this cute little glass man. Katie has a tag that says, "Vision Quest." I love that. Doesn't it seem perfect for glass through which you can see the world differently and that diffuses the light into rainbows. And she handmade the beautiful card just for me too. Katie Jane, you are too dear. Thank you thank you.

Blessings and good wishes to both of you sweet friends. Marianne and Katie Jane and to all my other buddies out there in virtual land. Peace, suki

Thank you, Suki. I am flattered.

I saw your altered book on Marianne's site. So pretty. I love books so dearly that I can't bring myself to alter them, although I've seen some lovely ones and yours is truly beautiful. Congratulations on your sale.

Katie Jane. I too love books and thought I could never alter one. When I first heard about them I was stunned, you know. Write in a book? Tear the pages? But I tried one. As someone said, there are lots of books in dumps that will be burned. Might as well use some of them in a pretty way. I mostly use children's board books which have been discarded. :)

suki,
And marianne was inspired to make wonderful mandalas from your book. They are really pretty and have a handmade feel because of the materials you used in your book.

I have to go visit Katie Jane now.

Chewy, I do love the colors and patterns of the mandala. I think you'll like the wind chimes and glassworks Katie Jane makes. PS I copied your idea of photographing the wet lily. I admit it.

Lynn I find it pretty amazing that you can not only blog when traveling but also comment on others posts. I'm always in some other realm when traveling. It used to be hard to even telephone people back in the real world. Have a great visit with your son.

Hello Human Being. Thanks for the comments on my good luck and on my altered books. Hope you are having time to breathe and be this summer. YEs they show rain for more days all up until Sat or more. It's almost the same version of the winter snow which came every other day. Now, it's rain almost every day. I feel like I'm in Seattle.

Cris, yes both surprises, the sale of my book and then the gift, were so fun. It certainly lifts the spirits. pS the photo on the blog banner will surely be easy when you have the DSL.
