Another altered board book

This is the way the book looks originally. The pages must be lightly sanded with sandpaper to remove some of the gloss.
One possible next step is to paint the pages with gesso. You might also glue paper on as a base instead. Or any other options you devise.
Yesterday, after the gesso dried, I painted the pages their base colors which may of course change as I go along.

This is all starting to make sense to me now. meaning I understand the concept. Showing the original helped. Looks like fun.

This is very good to watch from the first step.. I learn much here and understand more...
I don't feel courageous enough to change a book.. don't know why!
Thanks for sharing ,dear Suki.

I'd like to thank you for your nice comments and also your poetic prescription that helped much:
A bit of sleep
a spot of tea
that's the presecription
from Dr. Suki!

I must say that when I first heard about altering books I was appalled. I thought too that i could never do it as i love books so much. But then , when I saw all the books at the dump waiting to be mashed I told myself, maybe it isn't so bad to rescue the book by altering it. I have only altered one actual book with paper pages. Somehow altering a board book doesn't seem so traumatic.

I enjoyed the explanation of book making. Judy Wise just made a journal on her blog. Very pretty papers she made too. All these beautiful books. Saw one on vacation too. Blue papers woven together. Looked like something one of you would have made.
