Turkeys on Snow

Trees are dark
And everywhere's white;

Is it day
or a coming night?

The life's rainbow's
hidden out of sight...

Three living birds
And a piece of blue
Surely give me joy and delight
to look for the rest of clues!

Inspired by your artistic photo (the first one)
Thank you so much.

The picture almost reminds me of your painting you are doing only yours is so colorful. We used to have lots of Turkeys walking around here & in town but now I see none. We used to have lots of deer walking around here but I hardly see them either. I do hear gun shots which if they are hunting is illegal. but makes me wonder as now we hardly see the deer & Turkeys.
Enjoyed the pictures of them. My neigbor told me recently when she first moved here that she was so depressed as she missed her former State & sunshine. CA. but she said that feeding the birds & watching their antics got her thru the first cold dreary winter & has ever since brough her joy all year round but especially in winter.

Seems we were on each other's blogs at the same time. What a coincidence! I was here reading all your answers and did some more crowing! I looked at the nice photos again, then I did some more surfing. When I was back to my blog I saw your comment there... And what a comment! I'm soaring!
I never thought of myself as being that basket weaver, but your interpretation was like an insight coming out of the blue... especially when you said:
just doing his work regardless of whether others see it or appreciate it.

This gave me more power to go on... because, to tell you the truth, sometimes I just become doubtful...

And about that article about the crows.. and remembering me... wow1 this is really kind of you to write about it.. I love anything about is also mentioned in the myths that they are intelligent... :D
According to this definition of intelligence in which i really believe, crows are the most intelligent birds.

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
Stephen Hawking

That story about the gull was really amazing.
Have a nice day full of happiness and warmth.

Suki it's fun to think we are both beings in Snow at the same time...I hope you are warm inside now too. Lovely birds/turkeys and lovely shot. Glad they are free to be free.

Sweet poem HB, too.

Dear hb. Love this poem. Now, I'd like to paint turkeys so maybe I could try turkeys on the snow and w/your permission have this poem be a part of it somehow. I'll see how it works out.

Cris, this view is about all you can see up here, snow and evergreen trees for miles.

I love the Stephen Hawking quote. Yes, but sometimes it is so hard to adapt to change. Yet it is the key to survival.

Lynn, yes, you have a small taste of the winter. But lucky you it will all be over with quite soon whereas I have about 4 more months of it. In fact it sometimes snows in May up here.

Dear Suki, this picture isindeed so peaceful. If I concentrate, I can hear the silence surrounding you:)
And it reminds me of the pictures which is still on my computer screen at "job", the green field with 'same?) turkeys in it an the little house...
4 months of snow...can you send a bit to each of us? Little snow-packages travelling through the world and over the oceans..
Have a wonderful day, in the snow.

Hi Kikipotamus and Sylvain for stopping by to see the turkeys. I hadn't seen the turkeys for awhile so was thrilled to find them pecking at a spot of green grass coming through the melted snow.

They are wild turkeys. About 30 years ago they were brought in from the Carolina's I think, to stock the area and now there are lots of them.

This is my mom's back yard and just a bit up from the field with the little house that Andrea speaks of.

Yes it is peaceful and quiet. The snow muffles sounds. When walking I hear the rush of the stream, now full. I hear birds chirping as my SIL feeds them, woodpeckers pecking and that's about it.

Andrea, actually I think you can mail frozen food so seems like I could mail frozen water?!

As to using the poem... I'll be honored, dear Suki.

oh thanks hb. Don't know what will come of the turkey painting but we will see.

Cris, just thought to myself maybe I should feed some birds too. Have hesitiated due to the cats but they rarely go outside right now, too cold.
