AED collage work, altered book, trimming the kimono

At last got some work done y'day. This is a sheet of paper made from strips of purchased handmade paper glued onto tissue. Next I will cut this sheet vertically forming a long strip of squares. I tore my lovely large pieces of purchased handmade paper into strips as I had no scraps. This will be for the shroud.
Also I began underlayers of paint on this altered children's board book. I had previously glued scrap squares and pieces onto each page. Some pages are gessoed, some not. I was going to use it for a sketch book but decided to make it a decorative book instead.

Also, I trimmed the edges of the Moon kimono or robe. I'm thinking about doing something with the edges, covering with paper or something? Edges are always a tricky point for me whether in a painting or in craft work. Does anyone else have that issue. Even when painting on canvas then there is the question of covering the edges with a frame, or ribbon or whatever or leaving the edges open and free as artists sometimes do when painting on gallery edged canvases. IE thicker edges. I really like this unframed canvas look myself and my beeswax collages are done on canvas with a thick edge and left unframed. I think the final work on craft/art work, the final trimming and decoratings, makes all the difference in the world. As with Andrea's masks and spiritpockets and the final beading and so forth she does which just makes them so fine. It's that extra oomph.

Cris, you asked abt the lighting solution. I think another long hanging fluorescent light might work similar to the one my dad had hanging in there. No to find a place that sells them. Checked on web but found nothing I wanted.

Lynn, re: your comment I could knit or crochet with the yarn, no way. I am not a knitter or crocheter. I am thinking it will come in handy for my collage work or something.

How busy you are, these look great! I'll be back to have a closer look, just now: the moon robe is a beauty,
Andrea

Looks like you WERE busy. Nice to have the studio in working order. Dont you have a home depot or something around there somewhere you can buy those lights. maybe you can order from them on line from them. Check out Lowes or Home Depot. or dont they have those back there.
Yes I have problems with framing my art work. It IS the finishing touch which can make or break you piece sometimes. I have left edges undone and that has worked. cant you fold back and glue the bottom? or would that ruin the look? Your moon kimono is sure a beauty.
Your Dad sounded like a jewel. How lovely he encourgaged your creative side.

Loved the poetry about your Dad and the contrast with your mother who reads romance novels. It sounds like he was a lovely man.

The moon kimono is stunning.

Suki, the portrait of your dad you painted in words is very touching, as is you poem. It sounds as if you had a nice childhood, too:) Have a great weekend, Andrea

I am interested in seeing how these books develop. And the paper making is an interesting process too.
The moon robe is beatutiful.
As you know I am into frayed edges of late. This could change however. Time will tell. ;-)
Not sure it's the answer for your purple moon robe.

You did have a great dad. Happy for you!

thanks to all for the comments on my Dad, the moon robe and the work I am doing.

Cris great suggestion re; home depot. I never go to places like that so they don't come to mind. There are several here about 1/2 hour or more away and would be worth a trip.

Re kimono edges. I may just rub gold on the edge. Folding won't work as the paper is thick. I love frayed edges too. thanks for the ideas.
