My poem is published

What a nice way to start the New Year.  My poem "The Cloutie Well" is out and about in Bloodroot Lieterary Magazine. The magazine is beautiful and full of wonderful poems and stories.

The Cloutie Well

Over the stone wall
beneath the crackling
branches of dying pines
lies the old well.

Flat to the ground
clogged with leaves
full to overflowing.

Ruth kneels on the stone surround
bends low and listens
for the dairy farmer' lilting tones
for the moan of cows.

On the branch above her head
she ties a cloth
torn from an old sheet.
A cloutie well she'll make
a healing place.
The strip of linen
flies alone in the muffled wind.

A turkey clucks,
the hawk circles.
In the distance,
the sound of a gun.

note: I have no idea why the spacing of the lines came out this way on the blog post.  This is not the correct spacing.  But I will leave it.  I think it's because I made the picture large. Thanks to Bloodroot Literary Magazine for publishing my poem.

It's a beauty, suki. Such a pleasure to read this again, now knowing it graces a collection.

I think in 2013 you will be reclaiming your place and space, maybe more publicly, as a Poet and Writer. Somehow I think your best work is to come.

Very pleased, very proud
