Art therapy

More notebook pages.  I made a stencil from a ginkgo leaf. Acrylic paint on Stonehenge paper.  Minimal layering.

Again used stencils with thin layers of pain rolled on.  If you roll the paint on or scrape it on with a credit card you don't need to thin the paint with water, thus the paper doesnt curl and wrinkle as much as it would if you thinned the acrylic first.

An old post card.  I cut a hole in the support so you can read the back of the postcard on the back page. It was mailed in 1907.

I tore the preceding page so that a flap covers the post card for a dual look.

Some of my tools.  Mat knife to cut the stencils.  Roller to roll the paint.  The stencils are made from old manilla file folders.  You can use both the positive and the negative cut out.

Suki I really really like all these pages...such stories they tell, such emotions. I know the "pain" is a typo, yet it seems to belong there too (sometimes, yes?) Love the little houses, the flap over the card and card itself, and the figure of the woman. Keep going these are great and would be good on PPF too. You think?

Suki, I love this line: "with thin layers of pain rolled on" under the image of "Shelter." I know that's probably a typo, but with your title being "Art Therapy" it seems the typo is appropriate. And how we all roll those thin layers of pain onto what we do!

I love the 4th image down of the night sky over "mountains" (?), with the word Flow. The images here tell a story all their own - an emergence of sorts... Lovely

Ha ha. I do have to laugh at myself re: layers of pain. Yes, a typo, but I will leave it. I am having layers of pain that I do want to write about but have hesitated. LOL

OH Mystic, how cool you see a night sky over mountains in the second flow picture. Yes I did mean the purple area to be a night sky but hadnt seen the mountain shape. I like that. What that is is a flap that can lift up and then your see the postcard.

Love the purple hues and those little houses! Nothing like a little art therapy to clear a space in your head!

Art therapy...play therapy? Each one has a story and beauty of its own. I'm still captivated by your (women) last stencils.

Oh, Oh, Oh! Love your hand cut stencils. I've been using store bought stencils lately...and a couple handmade ones and string dipped in paint. Glad I finally stopped in to see what you've been up to.

i laughed at your typo because i thought, 'she didn't mean that but what a good idea!"

i will tell you this off the blogs but my accordion book is now on my mother's bed table and i told her on every little page she will find someone she loves. it makes me so happy and i am still so touched by you.

This looks like so much fun! I love the colours - they're rich and warm.
I walked through a drift of ginko leaves yesterday and wondered what I could do with that shape...and here you have used it as a stencil :)

I just love the colors and contrasts - they really pop and jump - and your words give just a hint that there is more than is meeting the eye. Great tip about the credit card - and the manilla folders. I will definitely store that info away in my hopper for future reference!
