Feathers in the Wind

Feathers in the Wind

The dark woods beckon
clouds drift thick and low
acorns are buried
turkeys slaughtered

Do not despair
leave your hut
begin the journey

The tattered world awaits
volcanoes spew
ice storms howl
big bellied children suck
their fingers beside muddy roads

In the stratosphere
a meteor descends
the moon burns
a black hole lures planets
into its dark eye

Do not despair
continue onward
the universe embraces

maybe too grim for the holiday season?? although to me it speaks of hope and redemption

I feel the twilight at this time of year beckoning me as well - to begin an unknown journey that I can't clearly see, or define... And yet I know the universe embraces it all - turning melancholy into a new adventure...

Life awaits! :) Thank you for the poem!

Tis the season to be looking ahead to those journeys we need to make. I don't feel that this is too gloomy. I can see the hope and spirit to move on.

This fits well into our gloomy rainy weather this week.
However, I do feel the hope and redemption you mention, as I see the glimmer of light peeking through the clouds.
Very nice poetry, Suki.

It's been a difficult last few months for so many...and I understand your mood and choice of words....but, like Lisa and Babs, I see the HOPE, the light glimmering...the steps forward...and all of this is exciting! Beautiful - as are all your poems....

I see you watched my *Love*, Werner Herzog's "Cave of Forgotten Dreams"......did you like it? It's in my Queue....

Love to you and Bibitty,

♥ Robin ♥

p.s. STAY WARM!!!

Wow...I see the depression in it of the truth in the world...but glad it speaks hope to you! Very powerful.
Happy Holiday wishes.
Pretty feathers too.

I feel it's very truthful. Some combination of the darkness, the upcoming holidays, and the news from the world at large (most of which sounds too horrible to possibly be the truth of our existence) has me in a similar state. But yes, keeping hold of hope is key in all matters!

"Do not despair Leave your hut Begin the journey" --
I can't tell you how those phrases taken together like a soothing tonic resound and resonate within me, like the voice of a god booming from the sky or my heart. They make up the sort of admonition or advice that needs to repeated throughout generations and printed in books, emblazoned on posters, and maybe even embroidered on pillows.

We all seem to agree...hope is within these words and as you said a kind of chant. Well done.

How refreshing to finally be able to stop by and find this beautiful poem!

I've missed you and so many others. I have no idea how people balance it all sometimes.

Lovely words Suki. And yes, the Universe certainly embraces.

As you know the holiday season often makes me feel very sad- it was a bad time for me in the past. So I understand and 'get' this poetry and love it.
