All the rain must have loosened the roots of this old maple tree. My brother woke to find part of it had fallen on the car that once belonged to his wife. You can see a peek of the blue through the branches.
The tree fell in three segments, each in a different direction. One segment smashed a chain link fence.
One segment fell across the dirt maple sugar road. No one was hurt. A second car was damaged on the roof but still runs. The clean up begins. You don't realize how big a tree is until it is lying on the ground.

I am glad it didn't fall on anyones house and all are well. I can see this was a huge tree.
How sad to lose such a lovely tree. So happy it didn't land on your Home OR Car. It'll be fire wood for some one.
It looks like a beautiful big tree, sorry to see it on the ground. Glad no-one was under it at the time!
That is really scary! I'm glad no one was hurt!
jeeeez!! I wonder if it was the storm that came busting through here last Thursday night. It was wild...like a mini hurricane. Were you still on the Cape then?
So glad there were no injuries to humans or animals.
no it wasnt the thursday storm. this happened monday night or early tuesday morning for no reason other than rain i think.
Wow, that's one big tree. I'm glad nobody was hurt. I hope the car is sortable!!
OH MY! That is such a large tree! Clean up will be long and tedious.
I'm sorry you lost such a beautiful old tree. So glad it didn't hit a house.
So sorry you've lost that beautiful, fully grown tree. It's so sad to see it lying on the ground. I'm glad all are well...lots of firewood here!
This is very much like the big tree that came down recently at Willow Manor. Glad to hear you and yours are safe, Suki. xx
