I glued two sheet of tissue paper together and then painted them to get the above pages. Showing is the back page of the well book with leaf cutouts. The pages are currently unbound. I am not sure how to bind them as waxed linen might make the pages tear. But then again it might not.
The front with just one leaf cutout. There are two books of different sizes. They are in process. The pages feel like cloth once they are glued and painted.
For the larger book I cut out circles through the pages so you can see through the colors. As if looking down a well, smile.
Am not sure if I want words on these pages.
I love the way the tissue turns out all wrinkled. I used acrylic paints and also powdered Pearl Ex pigments.
I am also working on the My Authentic Voice booklet. The raised letters were made with glue.
Here is one of the inside pages. My voice is quiet is on the left. My baby voice awakens is on the right. The photo transfer on the bottom left is the photo from which I made the sketch on the right a few years ago.

Suki, I love the colors and the textures of all this. wow. You are having a good time with it all. I can tell. I am having internet connection problems. Been having it for awhile and I THINK they might have figured it out. I need to new wires run on the outside. so I have to wait on that. I dont stay connected long so I am missing things. Better send before I cant. These are lovely.
I so like your focus on the well...painting and book creating. Wonderful direction in depth in this book with the circle...the purple page is a beauty. I just like how it is all working together.
Ooooo these colorful tissue pages are marvelous. I really like the direction of this book. It is golden, like you.
I love how this tissue paper looks, too. I especially like the book with the circles. Your voice book looks fascinating. What jewels it will hold when done.
What awesome pages you have created here. I want to touch them, to feel the raised letters, the cut out parts. Amazing work. Keep going!!!
When I read your title I thought you meant well as in wellness, not as in hole in the ground! But maybe there's a nice metaphor there?
It looks so touchable - fragile yet strong. Rather like you, Suki?
OMG! I tries to leave a comment this morning.....BUT...Blogger was having none of it! Just home from "WORK"....(how I love that word).... and now, I finally figured out what to do. Will send this non-related to your gorgeous work now - to see if it works!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
Ja- ja! It works! So here goes....
I love the way your mind works - to use tissue paper....extraordinary! I love the depth of layers.....on the "Well Pages'...one can look into the depths and almost see one's reflection in the water below. As for the cover....I know you have leaves....but...they almost look Egyptian...the "Eye of Horus"...they remind me of one of the sets Zandra Rhodes (she of the PINK hair) did for our "Aida" last season!
BRILLIANT Suki!!! I mean it!
Love to you and Bibs,
♥ Robin ♥
Love those circles, the colours are so pleasing to me. And the journal pages are wonderful and rich.
I can tell you are having fun with great abandon.
Beautiful beautiful! I just love this! I love that it changes with the turning of the page ....
Beautiful, Suki. I especially like the gold cover. So shiny and inviting.
I tried to leave a comment yesterday but was stuck in the dreaded hourglass forever!
I love the page cutouts. The well one especially. It really does evoke the deepness and mystery of wells.
The voice book is very moving! I love the idea of it.
All of your journal work is very inspiring to me!
xo
Lo♥
I always enjoy your mixed media, and these are no exception. Lots of depth you've created with the layers.
Love the words written out with the glue also.
I hope you're starting to warm up now,,,it was almost 90 in Dallas the other day and I thought of you.
I'm loving the hues and texures and wrinkles of the tissue papers you painted AND that you say they end up feeling like cloth. The baby you painting is adorable.
Wow this looks so fabulous!
Love the inside.
have a nice weekend Suki!
So behind in visiting...oh for more time. Your book is wonderful, of course I love the sea blues and greens and the 'circle of life'...
