Alone

Alone

The fog, a damp cocoon,
surrounds the house,
distorts my vision.
Trees--a watery calligraphy,
in the field,
the deserted cabin is a ghost
ship on a pale sea.

I am up the mud road
no human in sight
just the drip of ice
the tick of the clock
the spurt of the gas fire
the flicker of memories
as dark wraps her cloak around me.

Damn, Girl! (And you KNOW me -
I don't swear...) But it still is Renee's week - so I know I have her blessing! The imagery in this poem is astounding! The "Trees--a watery calligraphy"...... OMG!
"The deserted cabin is a ghost
ship on a pale sea."....Reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft!" the flicker of memories as dark wraps her cloak around me"..... Wow....I see it, I feel it.

I know I sound like a broken record - but - this is painfully gorgeous! You MUST publish a book of poems!

Love to you, O Poetess - and to Bibs!

This is such powerful writing. You actually transported me into the world you described...to the point that I was aching for a visit from another human.

The picture you have painted with these words is haunting. I can feel the lonliness, like a cloud wrapping around me. It is eerie how the fog from the thawing ground makes one feel isolated. It will feel so good to see a bit of sunshine.

I can feel the damp loneliness here. Evocative write, Suki. Lovely photo to accompany, too.
