Small Stuff

I am taking Leslie Avon Miller's coaching class" Seeking Your Authentic Voice." We have a group of fabulous artists. We participate in an hour and a half phone conversation plus we have homework to do each week. The first week week our assignment was to write a life or artistic purpose statement . (Photo is of some items I will use to make an assemblage in a wooden cigar box.)

My statement, which may change at will, is currently: I am the flame that sings and dances. My warmth burns through fear and inflames and inspires others to manifest their own true selves.
This week we are creating an invitation to our artistic/creative selves. Mine was to go shopping for some art papers however instead I painted some white paper in the manner I envisioned. (Photo: another section of the cigar box. Can't show the theme as it is for someone who looks at this blog.)

I also feel inspired to add something to this wall hanging I made two years ago. I glued strips of paper onto tissue and then painted them. (Close up of paper textures)

Here is the wall hanging as it now stands. I feel it needs something in the center. I will have to play and explore around this.

I have also created book covers for two journals for myself. This one awaits binding, well they both do. I still need to fold 40 more sheets of paper for the inside of the second journal and then sew together the pages.

Interesting how inspired I am to do these little projects now that I'm taking the course whereas before I did not feel inspired. I am trying to complete some projects I have had on the back burner for some time. I hope completing them will leap me into doing some new, not even conceived of projects soon.

Regardless I am slow slow slow with all of this.

See sidebar for a health note for those who have wondered.

Sounds like you are becoming very inspired. I'm glad you are liking your class. The wall hanging is beautiful. You always make such pretty paper. I still have some that you sent to me in late 2009! I am stretching it out although I surely can make my own. I just like that it came from you.

Lots of fun stuff going on here. Good you are being inspired with this new class on line and good you got that CT scan. Sweet of your son to dig a path for you so you can get to your fuel. Your new header is nice. Is that your road out of there? Looks icy to me.

Isn't it great to just speak creatively with others who are doing something even vaguely similar? It sounds like you are very inspired...and slow is good!
Glad to hear that you are doing well.

This class is probably the jumpstart you needed to release all of this wonderful creativity! I just love what you're doing.

That wall hanging is shrine-like. I love the shimmey textures. I really love the way you use colors and textures. I can always tell your work!

I am trying to catch up visiting, so seem to be leaving comments in chunks, kind of like reading a book you wrote to read your posts in a flow of sort. Love the shimmering wall hanging-reminds me of 'Arabian Nights'...
