That Part of You

The crescent moon
waxing behind clouds.
The ice,
thin crystals separating
pond sludge from air.

One leaf clings to the branch
flutters
and lets fly.

Away, away
tumbling across the crust of snow.
So fragile

ephemeral
like the ephemera you collect
that part of you
sensitive, artistic
hidden behind rules and regulations,
tightness and fear.

Now, a scrim forms between you
and what you might become
inviting surprises
inviting a different path than envisioned.
What do you see? What do you see?

Wonderful Suki, I really love the last bit, so full of hope. Pretty sweater you are wearing, aim that camera just a bit higher so we can see your lovely face :-). xoxo

This poem really resonates with me as well,
"inviting a different path than envisioned."

What a gorgeous poem! I love all of the imagery.....and must say that these days, I feel like that lone leaf, once clinging to the tree branch - but now loose and flying free in the wind! I'll bet you do too!

"Scrim" reminds me of opera! Ha-ha!

And...I have added some of the Ozu films to my Netflix queue.....(just couldn't wait to read the book)..... first one arrives tomorrow!

Love to you and Bibs!

I have to say that hearing someone read poetry helps me understand it much better. You did it well.

'Now, a scrim forms between you

my favorite line: what we might become...is that the same as what we will become? sometimes i think i'm wise to know the difference, to the extent i can influence any of it.

i'm leaving this comment before listening to you read this good poem. so now i'm going to listen :)

ps whew, very glad for you

Beautiful - thank you for reminding me of essence with this poem. I've visited before, but never left my appreciation yet.

Bright blessings at the Solstice.

Did you write that? That is truly beautiful. I especially love the imagery at the very beginning. Not many poets can evoke nature so clearly that you are transported in place and time. This poem does that.

your poetry is simple wonderful-- fits the visual so well and a metaphor as well-- beautiful

thank you everyone for your kind comment. I guess I should "sign" my poems so no one wonders if I wrote them. LOL. I do at times publish other people's poems so it can be confusing but I always credit the other person.
