I may have shown this before, but from old photos. It now hangs on my wall. I am unpacking my artworks and albums chronicling my small writing successes. Surrounding me with me.
This is made of handmade paper shaped on a mold cut from foam board. Later, I painted it.
I made it in memory of my friend S. who died a number of years ago. She loved Catholic medallions, as do I. This was one of hers. I also have some of her prayer cards. Throughout the piece I have used gemstones and feather that were hers.
The angel's hair is painted seaweed. The feathers I found at a yard sale. They were some sort of Scottish kilt embellishment or something like that.
To my mind the paper bowl with streamers represents water being poured onto the dry desert.
I purchased this gemstone for the piece from a stone store S. used to work in. The feathers were some she collected.
