A beautiful Weekend

On Saturday I visited a few artists' studios on both the Dublin Art Tour and the Fall Foliage Studio Tour. Fifty artists participated in the Dublin Tour. Nineteen in the Foliage Tour.

I visited several artists in Peterborough. One was Jessie Pollock, a friend. See some of her work here.

Was most excited to discover the Union Mill, an old mill rehabilitated into artist studios, commercial and residential condos, and a wonderful gourmet/health food grocery and cafe. Fellow blogger M. Heart was in there somewhere studying Sanskrit. But we didnt meet.

I fell in love with Peterborough on this trip. The mill especially resonated with me. This is one lively town for sure. The most "traffic" I've see up north in awhile. The cute book doll and small book were made by Erin Sweeney. The small pots are by Chris Justice.

Yesterday I took a late afternoon walk. I know I show the pond often. Here it is in the late day light.

Sounds like you had the perfect day for this Suki! I adore old mills, especially ones that house so many creative people. And to have that gourmet/health cafe there as well sounds like the perfect combo!

The pictures of the pond are stunning! The one with the vibrant blue is mesmerizing. It would make a lovely painting...large! I can just picture it.

It was fun to click on the artost's links. I love that Pollack works in a large format. I would have thought the paintings were much smaller. I'd love to take an encaustic workshop one day.

Sweeney does some very interesting book formats...and she's wuite prolific!

Thanks for sharing your day.

We're leaving for North Conway/Bartlett tomorrow for a couple of days. I was hoping to catch you on the way back but you're enough out of the way to add another 2 hours to the already long commute :(

I'll shout hello as we pass through the state.♥

Hi Suki, so glad you went on this art tour and discovered this lovely town. With all these artists living there, it might be a good place to look for a house. I love the photo's of your pond, amazing how a bit of water can look so different when the lighting changes.

It was crowded in Peterborough, no doubt about it! That town has grown so much in the past 15 years.

The yoga studio we were in at the mill was right across the hall from one of the open studios, in fact we had the door open a little and sometimes people would peer in and listen. I kept wanting to turn around and see if it was you but I was supposed to be practicing one-pointed concentration, lol.

I hadn't driven through Dublin and around the lake in ages and forgot how beautiful it is.

Your art-filled day sounds like a perfect Birthday Gift to yourself!
How charming to have a Mill as the main residence for all those artists....

I never get tired of seeing the Pond through your eyes....as it passes through the different seasons, the light changes everything about it.... I always feel refreshed after a "visit".

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Gosh, Suki, that trip sounds amazing! How fun to discover a new town. Seems like you liked it there, hmm....
I love these beautiful photos of your pond. I miss the one we used to have and all the tiny wildlife surrounding it. I loved to walk out there and see what was new.
It appears that Autumn has arrived in the northeast. I am still waiting, but I'm starting to see some signs of it here.

I will say you had a lovely weekend! Wow, Suki, you are taking advantage of this beautiful autumn weather. Good for you! I love visiting those beautiful places up there, too, in your culturally rich NE. Thank you also for these wonderful links.

The photos of the pond! Oh my, you clearly caught the light just right on a perfect day didn't you! These are breath taking! Keep shooting, you have a real eye for it!

I think this was the perfect setting to set up a perfect week for you!

You can not show the pond too often for me. I love feeling as if I've taken a walk with you to the water's edge. Beautiful!!! I hope one day to be able to live in such surroundings.
