Ready, get set, flow...........

On Friday I had a phone coaching session with personal coach Leslie Avon Miller. I don't know how she did it but I ended up refilled with enthusiasm for finding my home. I've been pretty glum about it since I backed out of that last situation, plus lost a lot of money too on the deal. (photo of a section of my vision board)
My brain just couldnt think of what to do next. My logical mind knows the steps to take of course. But my right brained self was drained and blank. Leslie suggested I make a Vision Board. A vision board is just a sheet of poster board or paper (I used a 19 by 25 sheet of charcoal paper because I had it) on which you cut out and paste on pictures from magazines, pictures that leap up at you and resonate. (entire vision board)

Leslie said NOT to cut out pictures of houses, but to show pictures of fun things. Luckily I had a few magazines left and so on Saturday I put this together.

I love doing this sort of thing. I will take this with me when I go on my next home search quest, riding my Pippi polka-dotted horse (red Toyota). I wanted to glue my own head on this kick-boxer but it didnt work. I did glue my own head in the upper right hand window.

I have two other assignments. One is to write the answer to this question: What does not moving cost me? I have been taking notes and will write this soon.

The other task was to research moving and movement. During our talk, Leslie asked me to stand up and dance or move around as we spoke. Every now and then she would say "are you still moving" and often I had sat down again. Movement is also a way to balance ones chakras, especially the lower ones. Not only do I need to move, but I need to move. LOL.

Leslie suggested that I make a temporary move and stay on the Cape for a month. And see what happens.(Despite the fact that this is the high season, I have two cats etc. Excuses, excuses). To get things flowing. She had me talk about my creative process and I said well I just do some small thing and then from there more ideas come, things begin to flow. The same idea can apply to other areas of my life when I feel stuck and paralyzed as I have been feeling.

Ready, get set, flow. Thanks Leslie.

Suki, I love the idea of a "Vision Board".... this looks immense! How long did it take you to create it? I see many of the things that make you - YOU....and I am happy to see "Pippi/Suki" in the centre of the board. She is your Avatar!

I love what you wrote - "You have to move"......and....You have to MOVE"..... I get it....and it's right.

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Very interesting concept, this vision board.
Love the little 'you' up in the window,,so cute!
I hope this process helps you to get your brain wrapped around whatever it is that's best for you.

Love your vision board Suki, I'm sure it will help you focus on the things you love.

Moving reminds me of creating art - it's not until you start actually doing something, that inspiration begins to flow. Keep dancing Pippi !! :)

I also love the idea of a vision board and the comment "what does it cost you to not move". Very interesting.

I think it's also been hard for you to move, cause it means really leaving your mom - even tho she's been gone for a long time. But it's that last link with a loved one that we want to keep - it's hard to cut that final apron string.

we'll keep our fingers crossed for you

What a hopeful, inspiring post!

I love vision boards. You and I would have been reaching for some of the same images had we been working side by side.

I too, love that question.."What is it costing you NOT to move?" Wow, that's powerful.

You could bring the kitties on a month long rental, right? There will be a way to get closer to your dream Suki.

The good news is, hope and emthusiasm are restored!

(Sorry your dance card was full on Sat!) But happy for you ;)

Suki,

Thanks for sharing your session with Leslie with us, It's wonderful to see how one thing leads to another. Vision boards are an amazing re-visioning tool and yours is just great. Did you read Martha Beck's article on them in the May issue of Oprah?

How wonderful this is...and what an immense amount of movement I sense as I read your post. Years ago, I made a vision board and had so much difficulty in finding photos and things which did not have anything to do with what I wanted at the time. There were so many blockages in the way. But I eventually managed it, and as tattered and torn as it is, I still take it out to look at it and feel it.

I love, love, love the photo of yourself in the top corner looking out of that beautiful window! So much movement on this board...you'll be on your way before you know it!

Good idea to make this vision board. We are told to vision it in our head but to go that step further is great. I have never heard that comment on ..what does it cost you not to move. I have heard ...what are you gaining not doing so and so. The costing bit makes more sense. Hope you get out there and succeed.

You're up and moving with a great vision board. I laughed at the dancing and moving while on the phone! Leslie is a great center point and she has you moving and pointed in your dream directions. I wish you well on this next leg of your journey!

I/Love the kick boxer...your head would not fit there you said. Perhaps you need to make one that will fit inorder for you to become a true kick boxer in this situation. Sitting in the window looking out does not denote movement. It's more where you ARE now. I would listen to Leslie and "keep moving"
Good luck.

Pippi is back!!! This all sounds wonderful and helpful and if a month in the Cape sounds like too much, how about two weeks? I find if I have fun with something it flows a lot better. You are on the MOVE again. Yay. xoxo

You always seem to find the most intersting pictures to collage with. You do a beautiful job putting them together. They flow with one another. Catch the flow.

It's good to know that you are feeling more energized about this. Sounds like good advice. I like your collage very much. Maybe an extended stay on the Cape is the little boost you need. Could you take the cats with you? I'd go!

At this point, I am having a hard time finding a place whether with friends or a rental. Rentals, many of them, begin at 1000/month!! And are pretty full. I can't bring my cats, that's just too much. They are old and I'm not going to drag them around from place to place as it looks like I will not be able to stay in one place if any for the whole month.

Annie said...

Suki, Like I said before, why not go to the Cape for a few weeks, easier to manage, could you find a pet sitter? Wishing the best of luck.

sukipoet said...

annie I think you are right\ two weeks seems more manageable. My son will cat sit.

This coaching session reminds me of a free introductory workshop I went to last year where one of the activities was to make a list of the costs of not acting. Not long after that workshop, I quit my job and got the teaching certificate.

Ah, now I understand why you are going to the Cape for an extended period of time. Go with the flow.
