Mellowing? Or is that Meowing.

Bibbity (L) and Emily have never been very friendly or affectionate toward each other. Sometimes Bibs chases Em and is mean to her. Other times she tries to rub noses but Em will have nothing to do with it. I wonder if Bibs going blind in one eye has mellowed her? Emily was on the footstool looking out the window first. Bibs went over and sat on the other side and they remained so for awhile. I had to grab my camera and capture this moment. I wonder what they see out there?

Aren't they beautiful!
Emily certainly makes me miss my Callie girl,,,,,.
Although I think most animals (including human ones) mellow just because they get older, the eye certainly could be a factor. It was many years before Callie accepted the dog,,,mostly she just tolerated her, until the last couple of years. Then she would go to Mille and touch noses occasionally; almost as if to say "well, I guess you're here to stay, I might as well get used to it".
Animals are so interesting!
Nice post, Suki,,,,,

My cats are like that too. They don't fight, but they are not truly affectionate. And they are opposite sexes. It's possible that they are mellowing. I think animals can sense when others are not well, too. Glad they are gettin along better. And I'm glad that Bibs is feeling better. Animals adjust to all kinds of maladies.

Thank you for your nice words on my post today. I'm glad that part is over.

Body language is very important to cats and it may be that Bibs is moving differently, being a little more tentative in approaching Em, and so they are able to sit together without issue. Of course, being focused on something outside helps. The behaviorists say one of the ways you can tell cats are getting along well is if they all each near each other (maybe what they are watching is "edible"). It's a sweet "Sunday" kind of photo!

That's interesting about Callie, Babs. I think all us pet owners could write entire books about the doings of our pets. They are interesting I agree.

thanks Lisa. I think they see little bugs flitting or something. I look out and see nothing but grass.

Katie Jane. I once had both a cat and a dog. the kitty got very sick and the dog would come and kiss her and watch over her. It was so sweet.

Teri, interesting. I did note that Bibs sat on the far end of the footstool but still it's closer than they usually get.

Soulbrush, actually this is Mom's furniture. Much of her chair upholstery is blue.

artist unplugged, i do love these guys.

Oops, I typed "each near each other" when I meant "eat near each other" but maybe you could decipher that as my next line included "edible"

Such interesting markings on Emily. I've never seen a cat like that. They look well fed and content. And maybe they are watching a tennis match. Did they turn to look the other direction at the same time?
LOL
Wonderful photo this is!

aaw, I miss my cat. He was a little friend who seemed to feel my emotions. Maybe they are mellowing.

They look like pretty little bookends. :^)

Oh Teri, they do eat near each other.

Emily is really pretty and it was her looks that drew me to adopt her, shallow person that I am.:)

I do think cats sense our emotions, esp if we are sad or sick.

Cute thought Willow.

Cute photo. I have two that dont get along with each other that much. I got Daisy to give Nikki company before we got the dog and they in a matter of minutes took a dislike to each other and split up the house boundries.. They tend to get along much better now but not completely. Now the dog gets along with them both fine. Go figure.
Cute photo. Oh I see you have a vote going on about the houses on the sidebar. I am going to go check it out.

What a cute photo. Often my cats move from the perfect pose before I am able to snap the shot :-).

Too bad I can't cat sit for you. I am a good nurse and always make sure my patients take their medicine.

Kitties are such funny creatures. Ours boys have always been pals, but the ladies have had a much harder time of it. Once we had a stray adopt us and then claim the kitty box and food dish as her own. She never mellowed . . . thus we found her a new home. (The boys meowed with delight.) I believe we've had boys only since then . . .

Debbie, interesting about the difference betw boys and girls. I guess except for one cat I have mostly had girls. Hmmm. Something to think about.
