A dark picture taken using the "dawn" setting on my camera.
Felt a bit more energetic yesterday so went to the Claire Murray store. She and her company make hand made hooked rugs and they are having a half price sale for all of March.
I bought three small rugs in anticipation of my new home whenever and wherever it may be. This is eighteen by twenty-six and my favorite I think.
This is 16 inches in diameter. Not sure where one would put such a small rug but I liked the flowers.
Twenty by thirty inches. I see it by the kitchen sink (in my imagination) or maybe in the bathroom. My friend who owns the house where I am a guest now loves Claire Murray rugs and has a number of small to large ones.

Those are lovely rugs. I hope you find a home soon...
Oh my goodness what a lovely sunrise. You got a great shot. wow. I can hear the peace of the morning as it is rising.
and I LOVE those rugs. you can hang a rug too you know. A first step to that new home.
First I saw that absolutely irridescent sunrise! Almost looks like a glow in the dark velvet painting...but in a good way!
And those rugs! Awww...how sweet they are, they will remind you of your holiday and they will be something new in your new place...that is something special to look forward to!
That is a gorgeous sunrise! You should submit it to Skywatch Friday.
Love those beautiful and interesting rugs.
it really looks almost unreal, what a shot, a real wowser. the rugs are gorgeous too, i can see them in your cheery new place, and you as happy as a 'grasshopper' (oops dunno why i thought of a grasshopper, but i bet they are happy.) tee hee. hugs.
Suki, OMG that photo is stunning!! You could easily sell it as a postcard or put it in a tourism brochure. It would lure me to the Cape, for sure!
I love CM rugs. You bought a sweet trio. The tiny one could even be on a table top as a centerpice. I often put rugs on tables...I just don't walk on them while they're up there :D
Great dawn shot...interesting camera setting...wonder if I have such a thing?
I'd put the small rug on the wall.
They are all very quaint.
I love that small round one too,,,,would look great as a wall hanging.I see now after reading your other comments,,others think so too!
:-)
It is a great photo,,,(getting out camera instructions;checking)
Buying for the new home...it's beginning...first in your resolve and next in action. The best of luck Suki, on this journey.
Beautiful dawn.
OMGoodness! That picture!!! Those colors!!!!
is the snow gone already?
Hope you are having a good time.
Love the rugs the first one is definitely my favorite!
hug!
I love the birdie+nest rug. So symbolic and poetic.
That dawn pic is destined to be a header pic (I hope).
Just resting around here. Winter does tend to wear one out (as does the intense heat of some summer spells). EnJOY the beauty of today -- we'll be doing that together (over tea, if we both boil some water). : D
What an amazing sunrise! I am happy to hear you are feeling a bit perkier. Those are very nice rugs, I think I favor the one you do too.
Wonderful sunrise and to be collecting for your new home-to-be is so positive. I love them all and was going to suggest the small one as a table-top but that has been suggested already. Perhaps a stool top instead so you can still look down on it when you are sitting in your new lounge.
These are so pretty. They are just like the kind of rugs my grandmother used to make. Like Cris said, you could hang the small rug on the wall as a picture. That would be pretty.
Good you're thinking forward.
Love the sunrise. Makes me want to stare at it for hours.
Annie thanks. I looked at another cottage today. It was very cute, although I suspect not insulated as it was built for the summers.
Cris, I was going to go back to bed but then I looked out the window and had to get up and take a picture. I never thought of hanging the rugs although I have see Oriental rugs hung. Good idea.
Teri, the rugs are sweet and cheery although my style is more toward orientals and contemporary. But these will make nice accents.
Thanks Teri. I dont think I'm together enough to submit the photo but thanks for the thought. I will probably close down the computer on Friday so I can pack it up.
Thanks Soulbrush. Well, didnt the grasshopper play his fiddle while the ants worked! Maybe that's why he was happy. :)
Laurel thanks for the compliments on the photo. all I do is point and click really. Table top--yes any of them really could be up there. Great idea.
Lynn, I could have gotten even quainter ones too. But this is probably quaint enough. No doubt I'll end up living in an unquaint modern glass and steel house somewhere. :)
Babs, my camera is a simple Nikon Coolpix but it does have a menu of various settings like "snow" "sunset" sunrise. etc.
BSD, yes I thought if I bough some furnishings for the home then I'd have to get it to put them in. :)
Marianne, the snow is not gone because it has been very very cold. I went to my storage unit and couldnt get in. It is closed with a garage door and the bottom was all covered in ice. I had to pour windshield washer fluid over the ice to finally loosen the door.
Debbie thanks for the header idea. I may do that. Tea, well no doubt we did have a cup together as I've had about 4 cups (green and white) of tea today. So refreshing.
Artist unplugged, thanks. I am a bit perkier. Although also a bit nutsy. For example as I drove around the curve my large container of winshield wiper fluid fell over in the car and spilled out all over the rug. I pulled into a restaurant to park and clean it up and I parked crooked and of course someone came and wanted to get into the next parking space and barely fit as I was in crooked even though i signaled to him to wait a min and i would pull out. A few more things like that and I decided to head for home. :)
Anne, the small round one does look like a stool top as they used to hand hook stool tops I think. Or a chair top.
Katie Jane, I think I was thinking if you make it they will come kinda idea. If the house out there knows I am buying cute little rugs the house will reveal itself to me. :)
"If the house out there knows I am buying cute little rugs the house will reveal itself to me." - That's the way to think!
Love these hooked rugs. I too thought the small round one on a chair or stool.
I like the deep colors in your photo.
thanks chewy. My own quotation makes myself laugh. :)
Long ago I wanted to try to hook one of her rugs. They are just marvelous. You are lucky to be able to get them on sale. The small one you like so well could be used as a wall hanging.
Oh, good for you for allowing yourself this indulgence. I also love hooked rugs. Unfortunately, they are not very compatible with wheelchairs. Thank you for the link. I will go admire.
Gosh, what wonderful rugs, my favourite is the smallest, the one with the ladybird on, it's so unusual. Hope you find a home for them very soon, I think you're on you're way.....
What a beautiful sunrise! You are really such a good photographer, I love your photo's.
These are such sweet rugs, especially the bird-nest one, it is good that you are thinking nesting your next home.
