Two Journal Pages

Yesterday, I did get something onto these blank pages. I wrote some words, painted over them with gesso, brushed on various watercolors blotches. Then drew the pictures and then painted them. Colors are a little pastel-ish for my taste but anyway......

Coming tomorrow, Monday, the fabric giveaway winners!

Coming soon. My answers to Blue Sky Dreaming's interview of me! To see what these interviews are all about read Blue Sky's blog.

Yea you created some fun art. Does this depict your trying to decide between ocean and country? I think they are delightful, colors and all. Maybe doing this will allow your inner conscience out and you can figure out what you REALLY want. These are very inspiring.

what i like about you is that when you get started on something, you give it your all. and this is all good.

This is so exciting!! It's like you are visualizing your future! I'm liking the pastels. Sometimes I am a pastel person, but mostly I am loud, bright colors. Keep this up and you just may have an answer for yourself.

beautifully done Suki...I see you so clearly...wondering if you are saying goodbye or hello...to ma's house, to a new abode for you somewhere/there or elsewhere...or simply greeting the sun.
Love the sandals and long skirt too. ;-) flash to my past.
enjoy your day

I love what Katie Jane said...you're visualizing your future! Creating it with your own hand. : ) I wish you good luck and many happy thoughts in finding your new nest.

there's something very sweet and elemental in this drawing....

It looks to me as if you're bidding adieu to NH, bittersweet though it may be, and it appears to be the Atlantic ocean on the right. If I squint I can see Nauset Light ;)
Lovely drawing, filled with emotion.

I love these drawings Suki. It really does seem like you are beginning to visualize your future the way you want it to be.

I'm looking forward to your interview too.

I like the transparency of the watercolors, like nothing is set in stone, so to speak. Like life, nothing is as precise and concrete as we wish sometimes, but that ethereal quality has it's nice side, too.

Cabbage soup...my favorite is Caldo Verde, Portuguese cabbage, potato and linguisa soup...i have yet to make it for one, though there is a little portuguese restaurant not far from me and maybe this weekend I will go there for my soup and maybe some puddim flan.

I am drinking tea, too and took a photo of my favorite cup also. Used to have 2, but chipped the rim on one and now it holds q-tips so I can enjoy it still.

Cris, I do hope my inner conscience will come out. I need to continue onward. I am not sure what it depects as it wasnt anything conscious except I did feel that sand and water and the house and garden were there.

Thanks Soulbrush.

Thanks Katie Jane. As I said, am inspired by your journal. I worked on two more pages today, which are drying glue-wise although it was quite a struggle to get to it.

Lynn, I myself am not sure what i am doing. Maybe saluting the sun. ?! I'm just glad something is flowing out of me at last.

thanks Starlene. I hope I am visualizing my future and that the direction becomes clearer. Not to mention that I will take action.

Thanks Mary.

Thanks Laurel. I almost did put a light house in there. :)

Patti, I still have to answer those interview questions so it may be a few days.

Teri, thanks for your comments on the transparency of the paints. I hadnt thought of that, mimicking life's transience. Caldo Verde, is that also made with Kale? On cape cod there is kale, potato and linguica soup that is so good and often has kidney beans. I'll check out your mug. Be well, suki

I love the watery feel to these pages...look forward to reading your answers. I'm posting mine tomorrow, Elizabeth came up with five interesting/difficult questions!Great comment on OWL blog I really started to think about how environment shapes expectations...and how individual circumstances influence what kind of behavior is possible. (If you can believe it!) ;-) <3

I think the pastel colors give it a dream-like quality, though I'm more of an intense color person than pastels myself too. I really like the last one the best. Good for you to try to do something each day. I'm working towards that, actually took a small sketch book as I sat at my daughter's volleyball practice this afternoon and sketched. Not too good, but I did it!

What an interesting technique. I like being able to faintly see the words under the paint. You are so creative Suki!

Glad to see you expressing in art again! Your journal seems to be perfect combination of words and mixed media. I like the background very much. You are being kind to yourself, returning to expression in your own way, no forcing! Good for you!

Suki, I love this page. You are a natural with this kind of thing. It must have something to do with being a writer, because my daughter is also very good at this when she has the time (maybe it is the VC connection).

I am looking forward to your interview with BSD! Then I can ask you for one :)

You are a love!

Hi Cynthia, I skimmed your interview but need to read it more carefully so I can comment. It was good, and you are a generous kind person.

Artist Unplugged, well part of my difficulty in doing anything creative right now is just my confusion etc over Mom's death and also the living situation and sorting through 5 rooms of Mom's things etc. So the small challenge of one mark a day seems to work right now.

Teri, all techniques, like the words under the gesso, are things I've read about in books. Usually I brush on too much gesso and white out the words (by accident). But this time it worked.

BSD, this seems to be all I can do right now. I am glad to be filling this notebook as it is one i made and has nice art paper in it. And not too many pages.

sukipoet said...

Annie, yes. A friend said it looked like i was reaching up to Mom. To me, maybe the sky (openness) and sun.

Hi Willow. You are so sweet. Interview is up today.

Kim you are sweet to say that. Actually I think this is the first journal like this I've every tried. Maybe it is just the right amount of page space (small) for me right now.

Thanks Natalya.

Just beautiful!!!!
Awesome colors and design.
I am always amazed how people can journal, they create such gems in these books and it is impossible to frame.........the book closes and they are hidden........

sukipoet said...

Marianne, that is true, however one can sit down with the book and 'read" through it at various times which is fun.

marianne said...

You´r right, the book itself is a piece of art and joy . Just like your altered book are.

Mom and dad were more or less ok. My father has low HB again and got medicine, he looks like sa ghost.
I did some heavy shopping for them.
