Fabric giveaway

#1 Here are some of Mom's fabric collection which I would like to give away. Some of these have quite a few yards of cloth. This pink fabric has a velor-like texture. Large quantity of this. I know nothing about fabric so I'm just guessing in the descriptions.

#2 This is tan ticking cotton material. Small quantity.

#3 A smallish amount of cotton upholstery
material.
#4 A fairly large amount of cotton denim with butterflys. A heavy cloth.

#5 Quite a good bit of this lovely white silky cloth. You can't see it here but it is lovely.

#6 A small amount of this red cotton.

#7 A small amount, though probably a couple yards or so of this patterned material, cotton I think.

#8 Very lovely dogwood flowers. A nice light cotton. Medium amount.

# 9 A gorgeous lightweight cotton fabric with a good bit of pink in it.
#10 Medium amount of this cotton which is also very lovely with gold outlining some of the flowers.

To enter the giveaway post a comment here and choose two fabrics you would prefer if you win. I will try to accommodate preferences. There will be 5 winners. Miss Emily will choose the winners on Monday.

#8 and #5 would be my choices Suki, and what a sweet give away. I like many of the others as well but thought these two might combine well to make something.
Sweet of you to give mom's fabrics away!!!

Oooooh! My dear daughter Miss Rachel (now 10) would LOOOOOVE that pink #1. She is all about sewing and making stuffed dolls and toys these days. The denim #4 would also be nice (for a skirt maybe, as she learns REAL clothing sewing). How clever you are to make a contest out of a sorting task.

Sweet girlfriend, I am praying for you as you tidy and sort and send away. Once a soul has flown the end-job can be difficult. My prayers are with you.

p.s.
I LOVE the header picture. That bench speaks poetry to me. I have benches strewn throughout my gardens for sitting and gazing, or thinking, or snuggling with a kitty. A quiet place for thinking is always in need. : D

How generous of you Suki, and a wonderful way to find new homes for your Mom's fabrics,,,put them to USE.
I really rarely sew anything anymore, so will leave all the choices to others who will create something with it.
They are beautiful fabrics,,many of them appeal to me,,,how nice for your 5 lucky winners! Such a good idea!

Okay Lynn, you are entered. Well, I know I will not use these or at least it is a pretty good guess that I will not and there are so many sewers out there....

Debbie, okay i have noted you and Rachel down for one and four. Good luck.

OK Babs. No fabric for you but thanks for your comment.

Hello and welcome Nihal. I have written down your name and preferences. Good luck.

Oh lovely fabrics. I like number 6.. I could make a pillow or something for the new Art studio or my computer room. Couldn't use any thing else tho.
How did you get the pictures on your blog for the people you are following? I like that.

Cris, I have marked you down for #6. Go to Layout then add a gadget then click on Blog List and from there you will see what to do. It's easy.

what a nice thing to do with the fabrics. please don't include me since i'm still divesting of things myself! good luck!

i can't remember what they called that pink fabric but it looks like the the fabric they used to make robes and things like that in the late 70s and early 80s--my grandmother had tons of it! it's a synthetic, i think--mimics velour but isn't.

How lovely that you're going to give these potential masterpiece making fabrics away and to more than one person!! Perfect!! I would adore #1 and #5 - I create rugs and mulas from fabric as well as large scale abstract canvas's. Good luck choosing ;)

suki first of all I really like the bench in your header ~ so rich,
second, I had to do what you are doing about 5 years ago when my mother passed...not easy and/or it can be freeing as well.
thirdly, how about # 4 and #5 for my choices?
take care,
ELK

would LOVE either # 6 or #9! and since the word verification is "antie" (close enough) I just might get lucky!

This really is sweet of you to do and I'm sure your mom would appreciate it!

Hmmm, I reiterate what others have said, how kind of you to give others something of your mother's. She will be remembered in many different places for years to come by the pieces bloggers make from the fabric. I know I'm a long way away.... anything!

Hi Suki,

You are so generous. I think finding fabrics is like a HUGE party. I will throw my choice into the pot, if that is okay, too. I will make the choice of #5 and #7. I am not sure what I will do with these, but I have a feeling they may be nabbed by one daughter who will probably be moving (and have a little more time) this summer and trying to decorate an apartment on a limited budget...just a guess.

I, too, think it is heart warming to consider how your mother's love is going to be spread far and wide through her daughter's generosity.

Thank You Dear Suki!

Mary, thanks abt the velour. Well, I called it velour-like I think so that should warn folks it might not be real velour.

Sunder, thanks for stopping by. Interesting things you create! I will put you in the "hat."

Leon thanks for stopping by. How are YOU doing??

Elk, In the past 4 years of 4 moves I have gotten good at letting go of my own stuff. Re: Mom's stuff I just hope I am not hurting her feeling that I dont want to keep many of these things. Even though that is probably sort of "silly." I mean to think she would know. I've noted your choices.

sukipoet said...

Mim, okay. choices noted. Good luck.

Jude, okay.

kIm, your choices are noted. Of course it's okay for you to participate. Everyone. Yes, it is cool to think that these fabric will be going to fabric lovers across the country and world. I think mom would be cool with that.

Suki, oh fun, but I'm late, as always:) These are gorgeous fabrics and how generous of you to organize this giveaway!
I very muck like #7 cause it is so special and vibrant, and # 9 is nice too. Have a wonderful day:)

Blue Sky Dreaming said...

Thank you...my pick would be #7 because I like the bold colors...but if someone else is interested please, choose them over me...I would only need a square...half yard at most because I don't make anything...I use it to sew shapes and add to collage. I used to sew things like curtains, pillows, upholstry items, quilts and costumes for the boys but not anymore.

sukipoet said...

Andrea, I am not sure why you think you are late?? I have noted down your choice.

BSD, I will note you down for #7

Please note: I Suki am not picking the winners. Miss Emily Dickinson, my kitty, will pick the winners from folded pieces of paper in a hat.

Sunder said...

I left a message before, but it wouldn't let you email me, so I'm trying again (can you tell I'm new at this)? #1 and #5 (just in case)!

Unknown said...

thank you Suki, for noting my name, that's very exciting!
(and funny my spelling error: I very muck like:)...

Be well
Andrea
