May your new year be filled with peace

May your new year be filled with laughter and love. May good health be yours and may your art and life flourish. May your world reflect the abundance found all around us. May all beings be blessed.

Within the prayer hands is Ganesha, the elephant god, on the left. He is the lord of health, wealth and prosperity. Also the god of good beginnings and the overcomer of obstacles. On the right is Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance, who helps us release fear. Together, they send us courage and peace, well- being and love.

Have a safe and glorious New Year's Eve. Take care out there on the roads. In Boston we have a First Night celebration, as do many cities throughout the country. I have never been. I stay at home and retire early as usual. I imagine the ball dropping and the fireworks popping in my dreams. What do you do to welcome in the New Year?

Your prayer hands are wonderful!

Happy New Year!

My New Year is one of quiet reflection on the year just passed. Not much celebration and I rarely make it to midnight!

I always try to think what I would do differently next year. I am in the process of selecting a one word sankalpa for the new year. I am taking my time with this, I want it to be effective.

Wishing you a lighter load next year Suki and much laughter & creativity. You deserve it!

thanks suki, this is beautiful. my new year starts quietly and peacefully, asleep.....i hear no crackers, i watch no fireworks, for these things are transitory, expensive and silly!

Thank you for your blessings; and I would add, may all that you wish for others also return to you. Peace in the year ahead for all people everywhere.

Not an answer to your question but a little story. I recently opened my tiny grand nieces' purse (she's two) and it was filled with telly-tubbie charachers and ...ganesh.

Go figure.

Happy New Year suki- all the best in the world to you

Happy New Year Filled With Love and Peace, Suki!

I love the descriptions of the hands...and the opening, too. How perfect and how beautiful.

I, too, spend New Year's Even at home. My daughter and her boyfriend are going to a show with his parents and (as far as I know) my son will be here with us this evening. We will have a few special nibbles and I will be spending some time with my journal reflecting and looking forward. Sometimes I get to midnight and sometimes I celebrate the new year on Paris or London time. :)

Here is to a Beautiful 2009 for us all!

Britt-arnhild, Have a wonderful celebration with your friends.

Human Being, thank you for your kind wishes. Hugs and peace and happiness to you too.

Patti, cant wait to hear what your new word will be. may your quiet contemplation be peaceful today, tonight.

Soulbrush, you always give me a chuckle. I go to bed same as usual too and do not hear firework, if they even have any up here, nor drink champagne. So, I'm with you for sure.

Cynthia, would that our wishes for peace could make it so. But we can create peace in our own lives and relationships which I like to think reverberates into sending peace into the larger world and offbalancing the opposite of peace in some small way.

Willow, thank you for your cup of kindness and I raise one to you also.

Marianne, thank you and may all those wonderful things happen for you too.

Mim, that is too funny. Happy New Year. I assume you are back in Mass?

Lynn, I hope yr doorstep is clean! And may you be kissing it today/tonight on your return. Kinda nice to visit the cold regions though when you know you can leave. As opposed to knowing there are three more months, if not 4, of winter left. Cheers and happy new year.

Thank you Kim. Hey, I like that--celebrate on Paris or London time. That is exactly what I do. So I DO stay up till midnight. :)

Of course you do! I always decided which time zone I want to ring in the new year...and that is MY time, too!

Enjoy Sweet Suki!

Hi Suki, I really love the prayer hands, where did you find this beautiful object? Is it made of wood?
Hope you have a lovely peaceful New Year and wish you a year full of new beginnings and wonderful new ventures!

Thank you for these blessings Suki. May they go back to you tenfold. The hands are lovely, such a fine thing to have around.
I'll be spending a quiet evening at home with my husband and pets. Just the way I want it. A little wine, maybe a movie. But quiet.
Wishing you a lighter heart in the new year.
~Namaste~

Suki, I love your praying hands. How unusual. And you blessing is lovely. I wish the same for you.

We are going out to eat nearby and then back home. I will most likely be dreaming when the ball drops also. I'm an early retirer.

It's been 2009 where I am for 30 minutes now. I'm almost always awake at this hour, being a complete night person by nature. We had a very quiet evening,we both love to read. Quite boring compared to our younger days,,,but I must say I prefer this.
Those are beautiful hands. I like to think of them holding a very Bright New Year for you, Suki,,,,and the peace that comes with it.

happy new year, suki! we had family from away here and a quiet but nice night. it snowed like crazy yesterday so no one went very far.

Kim, I never thought of that time zone difference. I love it.

Dianne, these beautiful folding hands were a gift to me from a friend who has an incredible talent for finding such things and giving them to others. I love them. They are small and easy to pack and carry and are always there to make a small shrine or whatever. They are made of wood.

BSD, maybe it is getting older that makes us want to have quiet New Year celebrations? I dont know. Except for me, I never had raucous celebrations on New Years. Hope your evening was peaceful.

Happy New Year too you too Teri. I am glad to have met you and enjoy your perspectives on life and your watercolors.

Laurel, I was going to watch a movie last night too and had Dr Zhivago all lined up but then I got a book out of the library that turned out to be just so engrossing that I read until bedtime. The boook is "The Grift." About a pychic--fiction.

Hi Katie Jane. Sounds like a nice evening. I too am early to bed. Here, it snowed all day, about 6-8 inches by evening,so i stayed tucked inside where it is warm.

Thanks Natalya. I gain so much inspiration from seeing your artwork even though I do not use cloth or fabric in my collages. Have a great 2009.

Thank you Babs. I ended up reading last evening too. You and my son would get along well, he is a night person too. I am the opposite. After about 5pm my brain shuts down and I turn into a pumpkin!

Mary it snowed all day here too. Now it is bright and sunny but very very cold. So glad the plow guy from down the road came by. Not that I'm going anywhere today.

claudia I wish you a creative and joyful new year. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful paintings. Be well, Suki

I hope your new home will be peaceful and lovely wherever it is.
I vote for the countryside.
All best wishes for a wonderful new year.

thanks Laurel. I read the tag on yr blog and will do it shortly.

Thanks for your thoughts Cynthia

Elizabeth, part of me loves the countryside. However, living alone in the countryside is very hard when neighbors are miles away.
