This one came together right away except for the little words which I just added. I took these words from a letter a friend wrote to me. Don't you just love her handwriting?
Attached with wax and coated with wax.
This is one of the old collages I made to make greeting cards. Somehow this seems "tame" compared to the other wax collages.
Remember the temple I've been fiddling with forever and a day. I added wax in spots and also added cloth to the doorway and waxed over it.
I really like how the wax settled on the tulle in the lower right hand corner of the door. Click to enlarge.

Look at this small girl who shows her dress so proudly :-)
I know Britt-arnhild, i just love the pose of this little girl, probably long dead now.
Suki,
These are fabulous! I really like the ones with the writing, too! They are all fantastic, though. One of the things which works so nicely, I think, on the one with your friend's handwriting is how you have dripped some wax. I really like that!
You are so dear to share these with us, Suki. Your process is amazing and I really do like the results. It is a great dimension to creating collages.
I am loving your wax works. I love the soft colors they come out. This little girl is darling. The words added add another feel to it too. I have always love writing with painting or any art work.
You seem to be having fun with these and it shows.
The leaf one seems to be unlike the others because it's mostly straight lines. And the curves of the leaves are very smooth and gentle. It is different... but very appealing in it's simplicity.
Kim I like those wax drops too. Today I buffed this one, just with a soft cloth, and it brings out the colors and shine of the wax. I also touched up the edges and think this one and maybe a couple others are almost done.
Cris, it's true I have great fun with the wax. Funny how some materials just are that way. Wet paper is fun too.
Chewy, thanks. The leaf collage is one I made awhile ago to use for photocopied greeting cards. The Wabi-Sabi days. So, I didnt put it together in the heat of the present moment, as I did the other wax collages shown today and y'day. Rather it has been sitting around awhile and had time to settle down. :)
Oh Suki, I am eager to see the result of the buffing...This is clearly your medium, I think! It is all like magic, isn't it?
Lovely work, Suki. I like the new and the old. I always wanted to work with wax, how do you like it?
Do you recommmend it?
KIm, thanks for stopping by again. the buffing is slow but does do a nice shine like shinning shoes.
Annie, wax is fun. You need a little bit of equipment to melt the wax in (not stove top, too risky) like a crock pot you will never use for cooking again and a place you don't mind getting wax drops on and metal stuff like cookie sheets to work on so wax drippings can drip on that. The wax is hot as you work and dries quickly. The paint brushes will also never be used for anything else again. I mostly use throw away cheapos, although the hardened wax melts off if you put the brushes in the crock pot. then you need beeswax which can be expensive. Mine was $11.00 a pound but i got local wax and it's cheaper on the web I think. Its .fun to try new things I think. If you do try tell me what happens. :)
Golly Suki! You have been so busy. And I love them all. Do you ever put your wax art on your Etsy? I'd love one, if I could afford it.
Your technique is so original (to me). I love what you do with scraps.
Katie Jane. thank you so much. which one do you like best? I am so thrilled you like them enough to want to buy one. I have no idea how to price them at all. The previous ones I made, Mom took three of them for free of course, and the ex-husband saw one and wanted it. So I've so far just given them away. They are small, just 8 x8. But anyway, I will list a couple on Etsy soon once I get the screws on the back and just make sure they are "done." The rest I will list after I putter more with them.
fabulous...
the temple is alive now...
Suki, I like them ALL! I kind of like the one you just posted with the little girl in the picture, the first one. I just like this wax process! Small is OK, I don't have a whole lot of room. Let me know how much.
Human being, thanks. I have no idea what to do with the temple, which is on paper, when it is finally done. I want to add some paper beads perhaps, not much more. But we shall see.
Katie Jane, that's so sweet. I'll let you know when i come up with a price. Blessings, Suki
All of these are terrific!
So proud she is of her dress!
I know that we can't see and appreciate the real depth in the work from these photos!
Once again, I love being able to enlarge & see them more up close & personal.
Thanks Babs. I think when I'm done I'll make a picasa web album of the 8 collages or nine with the larger one.. These are accessible to everyone and when you click on "slideshow" each picture gets enlarged quite a bit, far more than when on the blog.
Oh my, you have been so busy, and I, apparently have been too busy to visit blogs lately. I am so far behind and missing all this wonderful art! I love all of it, and seeing the continuation of pieces and watching them grow and develop is fun and inspiring. Keep up the very good work!!!!
Lynn, thanks for stopping by and for your words of encouragement.
I love the leaf collage!
The rest is lovely as well, but in the leave collage has this Japanese feeling.
Love >M<
True Marianne. When i made that collage i was very much doing Japanese feel things.
