Tuesday Poem

In response to Human Being's challenge to write a poem using a list of words (as many as possible) she has extracted from various comments on her blogpost, I submit the following.

Her list of words is: grateful, life, rocks, a pile, resonates, understanding, appreciating, childlike, tapestry, self, listen, breath, blessings, beneath and survive.

A Pile of Rocks

Childlike, I squat by the pond,
listen to the frogs,
breathe in the tapestry of nature's blessings.
Beneath my feet, earth trembles,
fire, water, wind and rocks
resonate, quake, flare and blow.
Life, so complex yet so simple.

I like that poem Suki.

This rock could be behind our cabin.

Your poem brought to mind the recent earthquake in China, thinking of a child there feeling the earth shake beneath their feet as parts of building fly burying their family and friends and neighbors. Sorry, but this sad news in in my mind. Your beautiful words evoke lots of feelings. Well done.

Lynn, it was all the current natural disasters i had in mind with that part of the poem. The earthquake, the cyclone, the volcano eruption. So you heard what I had intended though it's okay not to hear that too.

Britt-arnhild, thanks. There are lots of glacial rocks up here. That one looks like a beached sea creature to me.

Annie, thanks for stopping by. Be well, suki

Cris, thanks for your reflections on my poem. It took me awhile to gather it together.

Suki,
you've said a lot in a few lines... and this makes it more beautiful and impressive...
for me it was like a zen lesson...

'breathe in the tapestry of nature's blessings'

i loved this line... i tried to internalize it... how can i breathe in the tapstry of ....?

aha... i should be 'childlike' and 'listen'

and what happens when i breathe it in?
wow... i can feel the whole world... even the four elements it is made up of...
and just in this way we can find that simplicity in the chaos of all this intricacy...

Suki.... reading this amazing poem and pondering on it created such a big amount of energy in me... i was not in a good mood before reading it... but now i am revived!
namaste!

i'm back to my blog to put the link to this gem there...

Lovely! Today I want to focus on the simple part.

Keep it simple is a good catch phrase to remember, Debra Kay. I'm trying to do that in my life too.

Suki -- I really like this poem. Especially the last three lines. (and I like your new icon too - seeing you in action!). p.s. was it you who recommended Pema Chodron books? I can't remember if it was you ... I picked up one of her books the other day and am so enjoying it.
