Another painting begun

The first lay in of a painting from another small black and white photo. Don't laugh at the calves legs. I hope to do some research and find out what calves legs look like as the photo is hard to see.
Second working of the picture. I lost the original photo. I brought it in to a copy shop to have it enlarged to an 8 by 10. The store clerk didn't know how to enlarge but not wanting to admit this she wasted 8 or so sheets of paper trying. Also I wanted it enlarged on a color copier. This too she resisted, then finally decided she'd give it a try. When you copy black and white photos on a color copier you get more depth and definition to the copy. I have done this many times before. Finally she enlarged the photo a tiny bit but not to the size which would have helped me see the calf better.

COMING SOON Results of the farm name poll and final decision. Plus a surprise for everyone who participated. Today and yesterday have been and will be doctor trips days for Mom. Today the mammogram.

Suki, you have a very good start with this painting. I don't think the calves of the legs are funny. I think you are a brave person for doing this. As you have probably guessed I am not an artist who studies bodies of any type! LOL

Good Luck with getting your mother to her appointments...ah, the old mammo - a woman's main squeeze! :)

Peace

I love the subject of this painting, and I hope you will manage to get the photo enlarged perhaps by another person? Did you lost the original in the store?
Poor people who are not ready to admit that they know little, so that things get upsetting!
Have a good day and good luck for everything. This will be another beautiful painting, I love the way you paint persons and your colour choices.

Hi Kim. Actually I rarely paint animals so it's a challenge. Did you mean your statement abt the calves as a pun!? The calves calves. Mom had breast cancer last year and this is the first mammogram since then. She had no chemo or radiation by choice and so I am hoping nothing new has arisen for her.

Andrea, I took the photo home with me and lost it here but today I looked in a canvas bag I keep in my car to use for shopping and it was there so I'll take photo to a different copy shop.

I'm giggling... the calf's calves. I always enjoy seeing the progress of a painting.

This is going to be a fun painting. I think you have the spirit of the photo there already. I too like the way you use color. and good you found the photo. I am forever losing something I just had in my hand.. arrgh. cant wait to see more of this.

Suki,

I am wishing the very best results for your mother's mammo...breast cancer is brutal. Sorry for my insensitive grin... :( ...it is just one of those things a friend of mine with b.c. used to say.

No, Suki...I am not smart enough to come up with that pun. I just end up saying things like that a lot. What I meant is I did think the calves you painted were so funny.

Seriously, though, the very best with the results of your mother's mammo today.

How big is the painting?
It looks like it has some very good potentials :-)

Thanks for your thoughtful insights on my blog... it's very much appreciated... I'm not really as down in the dumps as it may sound like from the words I choose...

I like the start of this painting too... I like to muddle around with paint from time to time and wish that I had more talent for it (more patience too may help!)...

See you another day soon...

Your favorite Newfie...

Chewy, oh I knew I spelled it wrong. Calf's calves. Right.

Thanks Cris. You are always so encouraging.

Hi Kim. Well, good to have a lighthearted view of the mammogram. I myself have only had two and those were with many years between. Anyway, mom's went well but up here in the boondocks it takes two weeks for the results.!

Britt-Arhild, it is the biggest painting so far. I cant remember exactly but something like 26 by 28 or so. I like big. Even much bigger. I am a small person but for whatever reason I like lots of space to work in.

Hopper, thanks for stopping by. I'm still dreaming of Newfoundland.

Lynn, thanks for taking a peek. I hope "new paintings again" doesn't get borning. Be well, Suki

This is wonderful. I like the colors you've used in this.

Hope the mammo results are fine - I have this idea for a similar type of a machine for men - but not testing in the chest area - if you get my meaning. This would give new meaning to "just a little squeeze". (I know I'm being mean :))
Anyway, I love watching your paintings grow - and your colors are so wonderful.

Sandpiper thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement.

Mim, well I do have to chuckle. Go for it. The only trouble is I think your sales persons would have to be women, and the purchasers too. I don't think the guys would shell out bucks for this. But then,,, you never know.

I must say I was shocked to learn mom has to wait two weeks for the results. I had one in Mass. and they told me the results about 10 minutes later. Guess that's the boondocks for you.

i love the way the three of them are standing so close to each other... a beautiful affinity...

I love that too Human Being. Their hands are clasped over the calf's neck which you can't really tell in the painting yet.

So nice to share with us the preparations of this painting.
It will be lovely. So will the legs. You have to have confidence.
I often start painting things and then I think oh what is this becomming.........I worried but it always turns out fine. Now when I start a subject and it looks like s..... I know it will look different once finished.
Hope the result for your mom will be ok. Tomorrow my dad will get his after a scan two weeks ago. I hope it will be ok, because I hope that my mother can return home once my father has moved to a 55+ appartment across the street. I wish they can spend some time there together instead if whatever may come.
Take care Suki, it must be hard for you this constant care......

omg it's gonna be a beauty i can just feel it...hope the mammogram went okay!

Thanks Marianne. I know, that's the fun of looking at things as they progress I think. They are so different in the end. I hope your dad's test results are good and he gets into the apartments. I guess two weeks is usual if you have to wait that long too.

FY every painting is an adventure. Thanks for your confidence.

Dear Suki,
My dad's results were ok! Nothing in the rest of his body, so now he will get a hormone treatment and we will talk with a radio therapist for radiation maybe. So far we are glad with this . Afterwards we visited mom in rehab, she is not progressing anymore. Hope she can come home once we have moved dad to his apartment.
This rehab makes me so depressed.....
I'll "pray" for your mom.
Take care Suki!

Hi Marianne. I'm so glad your dad had good news. I will pray for your Mom and Dad, that they may be well and have some joy each day. Will they live near you if they get this apartment? I know you said across the street but wasn't sure if that was from where they were or from you.
