Recently I read the book "Theft" by Peter Carey. Throughout the book one of the characters refers to "The Magic Pudding." I did not know this book was real until I saw a reference to it elsewhere and ordered it from the library. The book was written by Australian writer Norman Lindsay in the early part of this century. I guess it's a classic in Australia. It is very funny, with wonderful illustrations. The characters: Sam Sawnoff, Bunyap Bluegum, Barnacle Bill and Watkin Wombat include, surprise surprise, a wombat, a koala bear, a penguin and a sailor. I'm enjoying reading something light in the heat of the day.
